There are very limited opportunities in the embassy. You can explore more prospects in BPO, MNC, and educational institutions.

Please suggest some DU colleges for the same!
There are dozens of DU colleges offering short-term French courses. You can pick as per your location and schedule. Alternatively, you can try private institutes.
Hello sir
My daughter just passed her 12th and has done A2 in French and pursuing B1. As such she is interested to get a job in the embassy, which degree after the 12th should she go for?
There is no specific degree for embassy jobs. The requirement varies depending on the position.

Eligible for what? For GKS, no.
Hello sir. I am currently learning Spanish. I have completed my A1 and A2 levels. Plz tell me about government jobs I can apply for or any good private job I can do in India.
There aren’t many government jobs that require Spanish. And you can explore careers in the pvt sector, especially in BPO and MNC sectors, but I’d suggest at least completing B1, if not B2.
Hello Sir! I hope you’re doing well.
My Name is Adiba Ali and I’m from Delhi. I’m in 12th standard right now. I want to pursue Ph.D. in Spanish. My questions are
1. What degrees should I pursue in Spanish before my Ph.D. and how many years will it take in total? 2. Are there any scholarships for the Spanish language?
And for further queries how can I get in touch with you?
BA + MA in Spanish followed by Ph.D. in Spanish. This will take roughly 10 years, and there arent much scholarship opportunities in this field.
Hello sir, I’m BA(sociology) graduate, and currently pursuing a diploma in international trade management (1 year) besides this learning Korean through an online website (self-learning). Should I join the regular Korean language batch in (sifl)? Is that beneficial for my career?
You can, but job opportunities are limited related to Korean and supply is high as number of K-learners are pretty big.
My son just passed out Xth standard. He has a talent for language learning. He is not a left hemisphere person, but has a passion for art (Indian classical music, tabla, harmonium.) He is very fluent in Sanskrit. He wants to make a career in Art and languages. I will buy your counseling, can you please guide which path he shall obtain for his career? Two regular degree courses are not realistic.
I am thinking of opting for ba program english+ Spanish in du. Is it a good choice taken I have more future prospects for the given?
It is fine, though a lot depends on the skills you achieve rather degree.

You can do that if you want to repeat your bachelor’s program. But you need a good budget and speak a decent Korean language. Yes, a passport is required.
Hello Sir, I have completed my Post graduation in MA English and want to study the Spanish Language at Cervantes Institute, so can you please guide me on how to be a translator or interpreter in Spanish Embassy in India what more do I have to study or is it important to be an IFS officer? Also, please guide me in which all departments of the Indian Government the Spanish Language can be useful.
Once you achieve advanced Spanish proficiency, you can explore Spanish-related jobs. With experience and expertise, you can become a translator or interpreter. There are limited job opportunities in embassies and governments. Look for private sector jobs.
Hello sir,
I have done HSK 4 in Chinese language. What are the career opportunities? Can I get a job as language trainer in private coaching institutes?
Yes, you can check with private institutes besides companies that deal with China.
Hello sir,
I am in 12th STD right now. I want to apply for gks scholarship in 2023. How much percentage do I need to apply for gks, and in 10th, my percentage was 52 per, am I eligible to apply or not.
You need a minimum of 80% on the 12th. You can apply, though 10th marks may reduce chances.
Sir I am a student of B.A. French Hons 1yr (about to end) and I want to clear DELF B1. Sir, please give me some tips and any resource related.
You can check the curriculum, exam format, and some reference books for the same. Unlike BA, the DELF test comprises speaking, reading, listening, and writing with an equal weightage of 25%.
Hello Sir,
I’ve completed my Bachelors in French. As well as received DELF B1 from Alliance Française. Currently looking for jobs as French expert. Could you suggest me where should I apply?? Please suggest me some better career options in this. Thank you!!
Check MNC, BPO, and export houses. These days, you can try openings for French content writer.
Sir, I want to study German in VBU (I am currently in class 12). How many years do I have to study to have a secure career? What are the career options I will have in this field? And what will be the minimum salary?
You can aim for BA or Advanced Diploma in German or B2, which will take roughly 3 years. You can read some of my articles related to careers involving German. Salary is a very subjective thing and depends on numerous factors.
Sir, I am in 12th. I want to study Korean at BHU. Can I give entrance test after 12th?
BHU does not offer BA in Korean. However, you can try a 2-year diploma provided that you get admission in one of the regular courses at the main campus after the 12th.
Sir, do we get more exposure if we do a language course from the embassy? And private institute does not provide that much.
The embassy does not provide language courses but its cultural center. Yes, you can get more exposure there than in private institutes. But more exposure does not mean you will learn better or get better opportunities. You can get the same wherever you study, provided they teach well.
What is the fee structure of the German language? In how much time will this course be completed?
Which course you’re talking about? This page doesn’t include any course detail.
Sir, I will complete my 12th in 2023 so can I apply for gks in this (2022) year for an undergraduate degree? Please reply, sir.
Thank you.
No. You can only apply in 2023.
Hello sir, I want to make my career in the Chinese language. Please provide your guide on how can i start? I am a bachelor’s degree holder in 2017.
You can join any Chinese institute or find any teacher. To check your level and move ahead, take the HSK test, which is globally accepted Mandarin certificate.
I want to pursue a career as a translator/interpreter. Can you tell me which foreign lang should I opt for? Which language offers more job opportunities?
As it is really subjective, this is a decision that only you can make.
Hello Sir!!
I am a BCOM student and will graduate in a few months, but I want to become a translator or interpreter. I’m confused whether I should opt for a Diploma in the Korean language or apply for a BA in Korean? Or give TOPIK exam, which will be better?
To become a Korean translator or interpreter, you need near-native level fluency. And for that, a BA + MA in Korean is an ideal choice. Alternatively, you can study part-time in an institute or college and aim to get TOPIK level V/V in the next few years.
Why we should learn a foreign language? In the future will become technology? Google translate will help others. So there is no need to learn other languages. And in future which language most will be spoken. My teacher said you can study Germany, French, Korean, etc.
If you think language learning won’t be beneficial in the future, you should not learn in the first place. I wrote an article for the same “why you should not learn a language.” I have also covered technology and machine translations. So, I suggest reading some of it if you haven’t made up your mind.
Most spoken would be English, Hindi, Spanish, Chinese, and not German, French, Korean, etc.
Hello sir
I have just completed my B.A. in 2021 October. I want to apply for master’s in geography through GKS. Can I apply without ielts or topik. My 12th percentage is 84.4, BA 72%, and 10th is 67.8%. Can I apply for gks?
For GKS-Masters, you need a minimum of 80% in Bachelors. So, unfortunately, you are not eligible to apply.
Hello! I’ve doubts. I hope you’ll help me by clearing them. Sir, my question is I wasn’t aware of the last date for topik I which was 7 Jan. Can I go with Topik II without giving Topik I?
Also can you please guide me as now I’m in finals as I’m pursuing my masters in environmental science? Also, I’m looking forward to applying for gks exam for the doctorate degree. And the fee structure for IELTS is a bit expensive for me. So here I’m with no language proficiency. How can I make myself a strong candidate while I’m lacking with such things?
Yes, you can give TOPIK II without passing TOPIK I. Considering there is a handful of quotas, I’d suggest taking language tests like IELTS and TOPIK. If you want to increase your chances, you should improve your personal statements, SOP, recommendation letters, achievements, academic record, and interview preparation.
Sir, I have done my 12th in 2020 and recently joined BTech, but I want to study in Korea as an undergraduate. What should I do? What are the 12% criteria for admission in Korean Universities?
Firstly, you need to shortlist colleges and courses. Undergraduate programs are typically offered in spring (March) and fall (September). You should apply from September to November if you want admission to the March session. Those seeking admission to the September session should apply between May and June. This is about fully-funded university programs.
Thank you so much for this insightful article! Sir, I’ve completed my BA in History and gave JLPT N2 recently. I’m interested in working in the field of cultural exchange/cultural relations in the consulate or embassy or any other Indo-Japanese cultural organisation. Would there be a further educational qualification or exam required for this? Or it’s just on the basis of English-Japanese language ability?
You can get a job based on your English-Japanese skills in some cases, but in most cases, they prefer professionals in other fields. Because such opportunities may or may not be readily available, I suggest looking for Japanese-related positions in MNCs.
Hello sir, I am currently learning Korean, but I also want to learn German. Is it possible to learn both simultaneously? And what jobs would you suggest or some other vocational knowledge according to the current global job scenario. I want to pursue a career in languages either as an interpreter or in an embassy. Do you think it will be a stable career?
Yes, language offers a stable career, and you can learn both languages simultaneously. If you need career counseling, you can opt for the service mentioned on this page.
Hello sir, I’m an English Hons student and after graduation, I wanna pursue MA in French. In my university, I have French as my side subject. I would be very grateful if you provide me with information about which university exams to sit for or which city has better foreign language colleges.
The French as a side subject won’t help much. You need knowledge like BA in French or DELF B2. Once you have, you can give the entrance. There are over 25 such universities, and each has its entrance exam usually conducted from Jan to May. You can check my article “Universities offering MA in Foreign Languages.” which covers most of your doubts.
Sir, I am a student of 12th standard and I wanna know what is a suitable percentage to get into universities in a foreign language course. I want a professional degree in Korean. Suggest courses. I want to get into the teaching field.
There is no ideal percentage. Some universities have entrance, while others take admission based on 12th marks. So, it depends. The more is usually better. 🙂
Hi sir,
I’m Angel actually I didn’t know about GKS before this month. So is there any other chance to Go Korea with a scholarship for undergraduate or can I able to apply GKS in late December?
It’s not that simple. Getting a GKS scholarship isn’t easy, and there is a long process associated with it. The last date for the 2022 academic session is over for the undergraduate program. You can apply in Sept-Oct 2022 for 2023.
Hello sir, I am currently in my final year (5th sem) I won’t be receiving final results till July 2022 but I wish to apply for masters in international studies through GKS, but in my previous marksheets I had a GPA of 7.6 /10 (relative marking cbcs system) but I hope I will be able to get at least 8 + GPA in final year but the eligibility criteria for the gks is 80% and I have to apply in Feb 2022. Can I still apply?
I think yes, since the final overall grade of graduation matters, but I’m not sure as I haven’t gone through the entire documents. I will check when I will write about the GKS PG program in January.
Hii sir !!! I am having my graduation with English Hons. And I want a 1-year certification course in French for my career options. Can u please suggest me some institutes from where to have this… And that must be affordable.
Where do you want to study?
Hello sir,
I am a B.tech graduate but I am really really not interested in it. It’s been 1 year now since I started learning Korean by myself but now I think I need coaching or guidance. I want to be a translator or interpreter but i am really very confused about whether I should pursue a diploma or BA. Please help me out with this. Please sir.
You can pick any course as long as you learn it properly and gain recognized certification. But to become a translator/interpreter, one requires years of study. So think about it before you dive deep into it.
Hello Sir,
I have done BSc Computer Science and currently, I have started learning Korean and want to make a career in it. To apply for a Master’s in the Korean language what are the basic eligibility criteria? Since I have not done my graduation in BA I’m a bit confused about which degree should I pursue. I wish to apply for a master’s’s degree in the Korean language in Korea. Is it necessary to have a BA degree for the same or is there an alternative option?
For MA in Korean, you need to study Korean for 2-3 years and achieve something like a BA in Korean. For that, you can join any Korean learning center. Then, once you reach an advanced level, you can try MA in Korean. Admission is usually based on entrance or higher level certification.
Hello sir, I recently finished my PG diploma in Tourism from JMI. I want to apply for a GKS scholarship. Am I eligible to apply for MA in Korean literature with Topik score?
For MA, you need Korean knowledge similar to BA. Check the available colleges and subjects when forms will be available early next year.
Hey Vikash, can you suggest to me after 12 that I pursue BA in Chinese or BA philosophy? Which is best?
Best is often subjective. What is good for one might not be suitable for another. Pick as per your interest or goal.
Sir,
I am learning Korean (B2 LEVEL) so after completing my levels in Korean can I apply for MA directly in the Korean language from IGNOU. Please reply sir. Do I have to do a BA in a foreign language to apply for MA in a foreign language? Is it necessary? If I’ll complete all levels which is required for MA in a foreign language so will I be able to apply directly for MA in a foreign language?
IGNOU doesn’t offer BA in Korean. For admission to MA in a foreign language, you have to take the entrance test. So while you don’t need BA in that language, it requires knowledge similar to that to crack the entrance.
I finished my doc. degree in Tamil. I want to work in Korean private universities. Is this possible to get an assistant professor job in Korea for teaching Tamil as Foreign Language?
I am not sure if there is any education institution in Korea that offers the Tamil course. If you find one, you can apply, but overall, chances are slim!
Hello Vikash Sir,
Is it possible to become an assistant professor of the French language in a Private University, e.g. Amity University, with DELF B1/B2 + NET? If not, what qualifications one must focus on achieving?
Difficult. In most cases, at least MA in French is required if candidates with Ph.D. aren’t available.
Hello sir, I want to learn the Korean Language. I am an Engineering Graduate. And want to get a good job in Korea. Can you tell me which level of certification needs to get basic job opportunities in Korea? Can you please suggest to me where I can start Korean from the beginner’s level? Any institute (Kolkata-based) or any online platform? (Any)
The Korean language alone is not enough to get a job in Korea. In fact, many are living and working in South Korea without speaking Korean. So it just adds more value to your C.V. You can study at Korean Culture and Language Centre (KCLC) in Kolkatta.
Want a counselling session, please.
You can make the payment and fill the form. Then, I will get back to you shortly. If you have any questions about counseling, you can read this article or send me an email. I have sent an email for the same.
Hello sir,
I wanna know if it is worth learning a language in du (part-time). Do you know any such person doing a language course in du or any experience? Will I be able to achieve a b1/ b2 level in German through a part-time course?
DU part-time courses are ok, but not like top private or embassy affiliated institutions. I came across at least 100s of students who were doing part-time courses in various DU colleges.
You can achieve B1 once you complete a 3-year Advanced diploma. DU courses do not follow the CEFR model of A1-C2, though the Advanced diploma is close to B1. You have to practice to improve speaking and listening as most colleges don’t focus a lot. If you want better quality, fast-track, and can afford a higher price tag, enroll at Max Mueller Bhavan. DU part-time courses are ok, but they can’t be compared with top institutions like Goethe-Institut.
sir, by learning french through youtube can give you a good career? I love to learn french and want to have a career in that pls answer me sir.
thanks!!
It’s not how and where you learn but your language ability that matters most in the end. However, it is difficult to learn professionally through YouTube as videos are all random. You need a systematic approach and also need certifications. So look for a formal course.
I am a graduate student (BSc microbiology) but want to do master’s in Korean. Can I apply for gks? What internships and activities should I do to improve my application and sop. I am preparing the Korean language on my own, how I can clear topik and which level should I clear to get admission.
Yes, you can apply. For more details and requirements, check GKS documents. There aren’t any specific activities that enhance your prospect. Korean can boost your chance by a bit, but not compulsory. Aim for at least level 3.
Hello sir,
I am doing Hindi hons in DU. And want to learn the Japanese language. 6 months certificate is good for jobs?
No.
Sir, I’ve completed my FRENCH ADVANCED DIPLOMA from Delhi University. I’m confused about my future course of action. What would be the best jobs in the french language, and how to go about them? Can you guide me in this regard according to my requirements?
You can take the entrance exam for MA in French or begin looking for a job in MNC or Indian companies. The first few jobs you hold might be entry-level, but as you gain experience and improve your communication skills, your job profile and salary will improve.
Hi
I am Abha Bhatia and want to do Post Graduation in Spanish language. Is this possible in India? If yes please suggest the university name.
DU, JNU, EFLU, Pune University, AMU, DOON, Bengaluru University are good choices.
My son would like to study the Chinese language undergraduate course in JNU after XII graduate this year. Please suggest some ideas for the preparation of the entrance test.
Check out the entrance syllabus (prospectus) and previous year’s question papers. You can also purchase BA entrance books on Amazon.
I am currently doing a history honors degree from DU. And I am learning Spanish as well as Arabic from the institute oracle. I want a job in the UAE embassy in India. Can you suggest to me what more should I do for getting a translator job there? And what should I do for a master’s degree?🙏
That is tricky as there are many possibilities. You can check the UAE embassy India’s site to check any new openings and whether you are eligible to apply.
Sir, I am pursuing Arabic language course from DU. Can I get a good job after getting a degree in it? If yes, what kind of job I can get. Pls tell me.
You can get it, but it depends on your Arabic skills, overall profile, and references. Most jobs are in the BPO industry.
Hello sir, good morning
Is form available for 3-year degree course in French language? Degree courses need entrance exams right, then what we have to prepare for that I mean what kind of syllabus or the test will be held in the French language only?
Yes, mostly one needs to give an entrance test. For BA in French, the QP will be in English. You can check the syllabus of individual universities as all vary to some extent.
Hello sir
I have completed my class 12th this year, and I want to do BBA and MBA in Human Resources. I am eager to learn the Turkish language. Is there any chance for me to work in the India embassy in the upcoming years of my life?
To work in the Indian embassy, you need to be a central government employee, preferably an IFS officer. There are few openings for others, but those are limited and not widely available in the public domain.
Sir which is the best language to learn for a successful career?
No language can be considered as “best.”
Hi sir
I am a student of grade 12th and want to pursue English honors as an undergraduate course, also I have a keen interest in learning Spanish. Is it a good language to learn or should I consider other language options for better career options in the future?
Yes, Spanish is a useful language to learn.
Hello sir! This is Tushar I am pursuing BBA and I am fascinated to learn German to enhance my career so I wanna ask it’ a good choice or should I go to any other language and also please tell me the scope of learning German. Thanks!
Yes, German is a good choice. I wrote an exact article “scope of the German language.” Search on this blog.
Hi! I am currently working as a tax analyst in EY, I wanted to learn some foreign language to upskill myself so that it helps me in my career as well. I am thinking of learning Japanese. Could you tell me if this is a good option as compared to French or other languages? I am not sure which language has the most demand in India that could help me in my career.
Both are fine so you can pick either one. There is no particular language I recommend so this is something you have to decide on your own.
Hi Vikash, I am an MBA passout (in travel and tourism management stream). I love learning new languages and decided to start my career using the same. After reading many posts I am totally confused on what to learn. I could shortlist Mandarin, French, Arabic, and German but unable to finalize one. The more I read, the more is my confusion growing. kindly help with a language that suits my qualification and have growth in career!
I understand your perplexity, but I don’t recommend any particular language as it bit tricky and subjective. Also, generic answers aren’t always useful as every person is different. Sometimes, I do but only after proper career counseling, as mentioned on this page.
I’m doing BA hons in French and A2 level in Alliance Française simultaneously. I’d graduate next year and I am confused about whether to opt for MA in Translation and Interpretation or do MBA in International Trade. Tbh, I don’t really have an interest in the business. I want to be a translator/interpreter at an MNC or embassy, but seeing the current scenario I need to add some additional skills to my CV to make myself more employable. Please help me out.
Both are fine, but MBA increases your career ranges in many fields.
Sir, I am in class 12th and I would love to learn French language and opt it as my career in the future. So i’m confused about the institutes like which one should I prefer in Delhi itself.
An excellent option, though a bit pricey, is Alliance Française de Delhi.
Hello Sir,
I have done BBA and currently started learning Japanese and want to make a career in it. Is it good to take it as a career? How much salary can I accept and how is the growth in it like the Japanese language in India, Japan or other countries? If things go well, I would love to work in Japan, its always been a dream to move to some foreign country, can you guide me about this?
Yes, Japanese is a good choice from a career perspective. However, it isn’t easy to answer in a few lines for the rest of the things as these are quite subjective and depend on many factors.
Hello sir, I am an 11th-grade student. I love communicating and a few of my passionate jobs are an English professor, working at an embassy, journalism, and translator. I have an interest in the Korean language and have even started learning it. Can you give me some tips if I want to get a professor or Indian embassy job in Korea?
To become a university professor (assistant professor), one needs Ph.D. in Korean. One can also get the job after MA + NET by UGC, CSIR in Korean, but the new openings are fewer these days. Alternatively, once you achieve meaningful proficiency and gain certification, you can work temporarily as a guest/visiting faculty. Then there are also options to teach in private institutes and online teaching. Embassy jobs don’t require any specific skills and depend on the job.
Annyeonghaseo sir!
This is Akshara I’m in class 8th now. It’s my dream to do something in South Korea and want to learn Korean. I’m searching for which course and institution should I do in the future. Can you please guide me, sir? I know it’s too early but need to tell parents so sir please help me what is the good scope in South Korea and what course should I do and is it necessary to know Korean before joining the Korean universities hope you reply sir 🙏
Since learning Korean takes time thus, you can study Korean. But beyond that, it’s too early to think about that. Five years is a long time. In the 12th-grade, you can explore a variety of options based on the current situation.
Good Evening,
I am currently in 12th standard and want to do English Honours. So can I start learning German from Max Muller simultaneously?
Yes.
Hello sir!!
I want to learn the German language after the 12th but don’t know what to do after the 12th/what course to opt for? Can you please suggest me!
Too many options to choose from, so it’s tough to say.
Hi Sir,
I am a data scientist and have Korean language knowledge, but I am not able to find Indian companies where I can use both the knowledge. If you can kindly help me out.
