I am not sure if there is any restriction, but you would have to see feasibility and class timing. 1-2 is enough, and beyond that would be difficult to manage.

Max Mueller Bhavan also has a center in Mumbai. Both are good in their ways, but BA in German is better if you want a degree course. But if you intend to do graduation in any subject, you can study German at the MMB. Quality-wise, MMB offers more practical knowledge than MU.

So before even applying for a college, I should have a DELF proficiency certificate? Is it okay if I take a year off just to take classes for the certificate?

You don’t need any French certification. But knowledge similar to BA/Advanced Diploma in French, or DELF B2 is required to clear the MA entrance test. If you really are interested in MA, you can consider preparing for it.

Hello. I have completed A1 and A2 levels of German from Mumbai University (Kalina). And also from A1 to B2.1 from Goethe Institute (Max Mueller Bhavan). I failed 3 times B1 Lesen. I lose my confidence. I am thinking about pursuing a German B2 level from Mumbai University (Kalina). Because in Goethe, for B2.2, they need B1 to be clear. Also, I would like to learn Spanish and French too. I would like to ask you, can I do French and Spanish levels at the same time from Mumbai University (Kalina)? i.e., Weekdays Spanish and Weekends French.

And one more question. Is Mumbai University (Kalina) taking offline language classes now?

Instead of picking a new language, I’d suggest first complete German. You have already completed B2.1, continue and complete B2, and MMB is a better choice than Mumbai University. Yes, they have more levels, but it is there for a reason. If you want to continue from MU, then that is also fine. I guess they were about to start offline classes in February. You can confirm from them. Once you complete B2 German, you can start learning one between French and Spanish.

You can consider IGNOU’s distance learning course in one of the languages. The better option would be to enroll in some private institute and opt for weekend classes. There aren’t many good corresponding programs in foreign languages, but you can find plenty of online language classes through teachers.

Which subject is more in demand and achieve a great career. It is better to do a diploma and then a degree? For a diploma what is the procedure to get admission? As a career in Embassy, this is the right way or guide us in detail.

There is no special preparation for embassy jobs. She can pick the subjects, along with a foreign language as per her interest and long-term goal. After the 10th, she can learn a language through a private tutor or any nearby language institute. Then, as per the progress, she can take the exam to gain an international diploma. For example, DELE for Spanish, DELF for French, JLPT for Japanese, Zertifikat Deutsch for German, HSK for Mandarin, to name a few.

The choice of career is pretty subjective, and only a face-to-face career counselor can help. I can give many possibilities, but that would be quite generic and not based on an individual evaluation, skillset, and interest.

The BA course is divided into 6 semesters, and the duration is 3 years. Unlike various German proficiency test, there is no level in the Bachelor program. I guess the last date is over for 2020-2021.

In the entrance test, the questions are related to language aptitude, analytical skills, English, and G.K. related to German-speaking countries. This was the case earlier, not sure the current one. Also, no prior German knowledge is required. Then based on entrance scores, they conduct a personal interview.

You can contact Max Mueller Bhavan at Park Street, Kolkatta. For translators, you need advanced ability like C1 or C2 in German. This will take a considerable amount of time. While you can cover beginners’ level in online mode, but beyond that offline classes at the center would be the right approach.

It is not possible to pursue two bachelor programs (Chinese and Japanese) at the same time. Firstly, you have to pick a language, and then you have to apply to the respective University when the forms are available (usually between Feb to May).

You can browse the entire list of Universities with BA in Foreign languages. The admission is typically done based on marks obtained in 12th.

Already Replied. The 5-week summer conversational course covers the beginner’s level, German. This course is okay if the only goal is to learn some basic day-to-day conversation.

If the aim is a career, then at least a 3-year course is recommended. You can contact the department. Goethe-Institut is another good choice for German course in Mumbai.

      1) French is the most popular foreign language in India.
      2) Usually No. Most of the courses offered by MU are either 6 months or 1 year. You can contact them.
      3) No. It won’t be feasible due to class timing. It is better to start a language course after 12th. You can also try few private institutes or embassy affiliated centres like Alliance Française (French), Goethe-Institut (German), or one of the centers for Mandarin or Spanish.

That will depend on the purpose. If you want to learn as a hobby, choose either one. For higher studies in Europe, German is better. From career prospects, German offers more opportunities than Italian.

Plus, there are not many good options for Italian courses in Mumbai. You can choose German and try to achieve higher proficiency like Goethe Zertifikat Deutsch B2 before starting to learn Italian.

The fees depend on the type, of course, you enroll in and the type of institution you attend (university or private institute, for example). As far as the time required to learn a language — It depends on mainly 3 things (i) Language Difficulty level (ii) The proficiency level you want to achieve (iii) Methods and quality of teaching. It can vary greatly between 2 to 5 years! You can read — How long should it take to learn a language?

There are 2 steps: 1) Choose which language 2) Enroll in any nearby language centre. The choice of the centre will depend on which language or class timing as per convenience. Studying on her own may or may not work. Slowly and Gradually, she can learn 1 or 2 languages (till advanced level) in the next few years!

Then she can find a suitable job in the field of languages. Earlier a child starts learning a second language, the better! I wish your daughter the best of luck for her future.

NO. Part-time Certificate course won’t be valid. While 16 years of formal education is required for most Master’s program in USA. However, several American universities do accept 15 years. Excellent score in GRE/GMAT is the key. Few students also complete 1st year master course in India in order to be eligible for certain university in USA. Take the advice from an overseas education consultant.

Between two, Spanish is relatively easier than French. Even though Spanish grammar is quite vast and lengthy, Thanks to the phonetic nature of Spanish – it is easy to read words exactly as they are written. Fluency in English is not compulsory to learn French or Spanish.
