Why choose a Bachelor’s in Foreign Languages?

Besides, the degree programs offer a foreign tongue through a multi-disciplinary context.

It is because it is partly or fully funded by the State or Central Government through the University Grants Commission.
There is rarely any other cost that would bother students.
While Private universities and Colleges’ charges are comparatively high, you will never have to worry about costs once you can get admission to any public University.
3. Regular events, Exchange programs, and Scholarships
Beyond the classroom-based foreign language courses, students can practice the new language and participate in many activities. It includes conferences, cultural programs, screening of movies, music concerts, seminars, workshops, and discussions, to name a few.
Besides, reputed scholars, distinguished researchers, visiting and guest faculty, foreign delegates, and intellectuals help students enrich their on-campus learning experience.
Recognizing the value of international experience, several Indian Universities collaborate or have a Memorandum of Understanding with prominent foreign universities across the planet for cultural exchange programs.
Many Universities also offer study abroad programs and scholarships to deserving students.

Sir i want to apply in a college on the merit based, I want to study German or Spanish, which private college would be good? To be noted, I don’t want to give entrance exams.
You can try some of the DU colleges that offer part-time Ferman or Spanish courses. Plus, you can check some of the known private institutes.
Sir, I want to do B.A with English. I am very good in english subject. Which University is best for B.A. in English subject?
I do not track English courses, though there are many good universities for BA in English.
English and Foreign language in Hyderabad (EFLU).
I got 91 percent in class 12 in 2021. Which colleges will I get for foreign language in BA French?
Apply to a few universities and try your luck. Also, not all colleges take admission based on 12th marks. Some of them conduct entrance tests too.
Do these central universities have job placement, after BA? What are career choices are thereafter studying a foreign language? Which are the best universities among them?
Most of them don’t provide placement, though some do. You can read some of my articles related to careers involving languages. There are many top-rated universities like JNU, DU, Jamia, MU, PU, EFL, VBU, to name a few.
I have completed my Spanish course but now i want to do a certified course in translation and interpretation. Could you please tell me does DU provides this course, if not then where can I find it?
To my knowledge, DU doesn’t provide such courses. There isn’t any specific program, but most prefer doing MA in Spanish to become a translator/interpreter.
Does Aligarh Muslim University provide BA program or BA honours in foreign languages?
AMU offers BA (Hons.) in various foreign languages.
Hi,
Is there any age limit to take admission to BA in Foreign Languages? I am 39 years old and I want to change my career path. Do you know if people at the age around 40 take admission in BA in Foreign Language?
That will depend on the university. The age limit varies from one university to another. So you have to check with your target university. If your goal is to learn a language to enhance career prospects, you can also study at any private institute.
Sir, I want to ask as I wanted to learn french so which college is the best as i wanted to learn ba in French to become a french teacher.
There are many good options. It depends on your location, eligibility criteria, and the type of programs you’re seeking. You can check the list mentioned above.
Sir, does JNU emphasize taking in students who are UPSC aspirants? Because if you look at the entrance exam syllabus, students must prepare everything about every country!! No test based on your language capability??
I don’t think so. JNU Admission is totally based on how one performs in the entrance test.
And that entrance test tests what? How good and serious you’re at this language? No.
It tests the general knowledge about the whole world which is what a UPSC aspirant studies! And that’s how they become capable of clearing it.
Do you perhaps know if there’s any university in India that tests the language skills of a student in their BA entrance exam?
Nearly all such entrances check General English. Universities don’t test the foreign language skills of the target BA program because BA starts from zero and no prior knowledge of that language is required. And this is true for all universities to my knowledge. If one takes entrance for MA in a particular language, the test is totally based on that language.
Namaskaram and Warm greetings sir!
I want to know if Central Gujarat University is better at BA Chinese or BA German ?
That’s difficult to say, but both should be fine.
Is there any university offering distance learning in foreign languages?
There aren’t many good options. IGNOU offers various short-term programs in various languages.
Does it provide BA in languages?
No.
Hello sir, How is the B.A course in Manipal? Is it up to par with other universities?
Not like top government universities like JNU, DU, EFLU, MU, VBU, etc. It is similar to private university like Amity.
Is doing ba Chinese better or ba Korean? I want to work abroad, maybe as an interpreter or translator. I like both the languages and I want to work in any Southeast/East Asian countries but I’m not sure which language is better for that.
Both are fine, though Mandarin is more widespread and popular from a career perspective.
I got 76% in my senior school. What options do I have if I want to pursue either Japanese or German? Is there any probability of me getting into these colleges?
You can still get admission to some of the not-so-popular colleges. Plus, you can also pursue certificate courses, followed by diploma and advanced diploma, or study in one of the private institutions.
I don’t see the Japanese language in the arts section of Delhi University. Do they offer courses in Japanese?
No. DU doesn’t offer BA in Japanese.
SIR, how can I join doon university for language course?
Forms are available for the academic term 2021-2022. You can apply for BA or certificate course for a particular language. However, you will have to take the entrance to get admission. All details are there in the prospectus.
Sir, my daughter may get admission in DU for BA foreign language on a merit basis. After doing graduation from India, what are the various options available to do master’s or higher education from abroad to eventually settle over there?
She can do a master’s in the same language from any foreign university. But difficult to find a job there related to that as everyone speaks that language in that country. One needs different in-demand skills for employment/settlement.

Thank you!
Jamia and JNU.
Is there any online bachelor’s degree programs for pursuing BA in Spanish? Or even a semi-online course would great! My preferred choice is any university from Delhi.
Thank you.
I am not aware of any online BA programs in the language.
Sir, I am a student of class 10 In Kolkata and I want a higher degree in Chinese and the Korean language. Tell me how to pursue both in my city or if I have to leave my city for it as I am reluctant of leaving.
There isn’t any option to pursue degree-level Chinese and Korean courses in Kolkatta. But you can consider part-time programs at Jadavpur University, RBU, University of Kolkata, etc. You can also try BA and MA in Chinese from Visva-Bharati.
What subject I have to study when I’ll choose Korean as my main core?
That depends on the university. But there are few compulsory and elective papers like English and different sub-subjects of Korean language and literature.
Sir, I’m from Kerala I completed my graduation (BSc computer science). I want to do MA Korean literature. Can I apply for that or I want to start over from BA and any age limit for BA courses (now I’m 22 yrs old)? I have any possibility to apply for BA or MA foreign courses.
Without BA in Korean or knowledge similar to that, it is not permissible to get admission to MA in Korean. If you are ok with repeating the bachelor program, you can try for BA in Korean.
Sir, I’ve done my B.A. in a different subject i.e sociology. So if I want to do my M.A in foreign languages, then is it possible? Or do I have to start over from B.A. in that preferred language?
You have to do either BA in that language or get the knowledge similar to that to crack the entrance.
Sir, I want to do BA in german but I have not studied it earlier. Is it possible to do a BA in the German language even then also when I had not studied it earlier?
Yes. You don’t need any previous knowledge of German.

No. BA in Turkish is a 100% on-campus program.
Sir, I’m pursuing BA (hons) in Persian from Jamia Millia Islamia since I’ve a very keen interest in this particular language. Is it a good decision to do graduation in Persian Does this language have scope for employment? Indirectly I’m asking if doing BA and MA in Persian is a fine decision for a bright future.
Some job opportunities exist in all languages, including Perian. More will depend on how good you’re at Persian, other skills, and overall profile.
Dear Vikash ji,
My daughter was admitted in her second choice of BA (Hons) in French at JNU this year only 10 days back, but now she has been accepted in her first choice – BA (Hons) in German. Kindly comment on job prospects of BA (Hons) German vis-a-vis BA (Hons) French.
Both French and German are useful from a long-term career perspective, and I’ve written a few articles covering these topics in-depth. I wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
Sir,
I am from Kolkata, and I’m studying BSc general in my final year. And I often see, where there is any language expert job vacancies, they mention “any graduate in any specialization.” So am I eligible for that job? If not, what should I do now? Please help, I want to be a language expert. Is there any vacancies for a non-specialized graduate?
Language specialist jobs are meant for those who have a higher command over a particular language. One needs not to be a graduate in that language. So, if you wish to work as a language expert, you should pick a language and achieve an advanced level in the same.
Thank you sir for your precious Ans.
Another question regarding this. Vishwa Bharati University and JNU offer B.A. in Japanese, and they claim a 4-7 LPA package. So, will they really give placement in MNCs or other places with such packages after completing the B.A. course?
Not all colleges offer placement. And those who do, their salaries vary greatly. So, this is very subjective. JNU and VBU do offer campus selection, but I’d suggest aiming for a master’s if you intend a full-fledged career in any language.
Sir, currently I am studying in 9th standard, and I am interested in learning Spanish. So, how do I take it further?
You can learn through any Spanish institute, tutor, and books and audio lessons. After 12th, you can also study full-time by taking admission to BA in Spanish.
Are there some good centres anywhere in India for learning Greek? And, what opportunities can one hope to find with a degree in the Greek language? Is it a terribly unprofitable choice?
Well, most people learn Greek for cultural aspect, history, or if the intent is to live in Greece. The job opportunities, however, are somewhat limited. To my best of knowledge, No Indian universities offer Greek courses in India.
Sir, I am from Ahmedabad. Please suggest MSU or Centra University of Gujarat is a good option, or shall I go for BBA? I am a commerce student. In the future perspective of BA in a foreign language is good. Please help me as I am a bit confused.
That depends on your goal. If you wish to make a full-fledged career in a foreign language, BA and MA in a particular language is a fabulous choice. And if you don’t want to put all your eggs in one basket and uncertain about what you want, go with BBA along with a language course from a private institute. While CUJ seems a better choice, but you can go with either one as per feasibility.
Sir, I have selected for admission in B.A German in MSU Baroda. What should I do – whether to take admission or leave? I don’t know about the German faculty of MSU. Sir, is MSU good for a foreign language for job opportunities and placement because I want to make my career in foreign languages?
I don’t have that much knowledge about this university, so difficult to say. But I’m sure they must have hired qualified faculty adhering to the university guidelines. As far as job placement, you can check the track record with existing students. Regardless of that, you can still find jobs if you learn German quite well.
Dear Sir,
Greetings.
I am from Chennai. I am studying German from a Madam in Madhya Pradesh. My Madam is searching for any Distance Education – University/College/Institute offering B.A. in French or Spanish or German. Please let me know available places giving B.A. in Foreign languages via distance education mode. Also, kindly let me know if there are very economical Universities abroad offering Distance Education in B.A. French or Spanish or German.
Thanks & Best Regards,
Ramkanna
To my best of knowledge, No Indian University offers a BA in these languages through distance learning mode. It won’t be feasible to take any overseas courses since semester exams will be conducted in that country only.
Sir, which college is better for foreign language DU or JNU for better placement after graduation?
JNU is comparatively better than DU.
Is there BA (Hons.) in the Japanese language in DU?
No.
What would be the starting CTC if student completes the Spanish Language course? Do all the universities have same value in the job market?
Salary varies depending upon the nature of the job, engagement with Spanish, location, and company profile. Yes, university matters. Some reputed ones in bigger cities attract more prominent companies with better packages during placements.
Is JNU is the right choice if I want to pursue BA Hons in Japanese? And do I have a good scope of the career after that?
Yes for both questions.
Sir do u know anything about admission form and process of B.H.U, J.N.U, Viswa Bharati, and D.U. This year as everything is messed up due to the current situation. I live in Kolkata and want to pursue a B.A. in either German or French.
Yes, I have covered all these Universities in detail. The last date to apply for BHU and JNU is over. You can check the individual articles for details in the Indian Universities section.
Which book is best for the JNU, BHU, EFLU, entrance exam, and how to crack? Sir, tell me the best way to prepare for these all entrance exam.
Thank you sir
There is no specific book that can prepare you for all exams. Check the syllabus and previous year QPs, and study accordingly. You can also buy some reference books meant for these exams.
Sir, I have done a diploma in mechanical engineering after 12th and working in a private company for the last 9 years. So how relevant it would be for me?
This is something you have to decide by considering all the possibilities.
Would you recommend that someone interested in learning language do a BA in a language in his/her 30s?
If the concerned person has already completed the graduation, then NO. One can join any private institute to learn a new language of his/her choice.
My daughter is currently in std X and has a keen interest in Korean languages please suggests how to take it further we are from Mumbai.
