You can learn French by enrolling at L’Alliance Française, 72, KK Birla Marg, Lodhi Estate.
Sir, I am from the Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, but I wish to have an additional Korean course that Ramjas College offers within the Delhi University. So is it possible?
Yes.
I’m planning to pursue a one-year intensive diploma course in Japanese from Arts Faculty, DU. I wanted to know if any previous knowledge of the language is required since I’m a beginner or is the entrance exam enough for admission?
Arts faculty doesn’t provide an Advanced Diploma in Japanese. They offer a 1-year PG intensive Diploma and a 1-year intensive Advanced diploma. If this is what you meant, you have to take the entrance for the Diploma course. You don’t need previous knowledge of Japanese.
Sir, I have completed my UG two year diploma in Korean from a renowned university. How will I get admission in Pg diploma/ advanced diploma in DU? Will I have to give kf1 or kf2?
You can take the SLAT entrance for KF2 or an advanced diploma from Daulat Ram College in mid-2021.
Hello sir,
I am an interior designer and I wish to have an opportunity for foreign. Will you please recommend me a beneficial language?
All the languages that I have covered on this blog is useful in some way.
Is the language course alone is worth doing?
Yes, but you will be dependent on that language for the jobs. A combination expands the career horizon.
Hello sir,
Right now I am pursuing b.com, but now I want to do M.A French. So, is it possible to take admission to Delhi university after doing a diploma for French till B2?
After completing an advanced diploma or knowledge similar to DELF B2, you can appear for the entrance test for Masters in French. If you crack the entrance, you can get admission.
Hello sir, what will be the duration of the part-time certificate course? I will be in the last semester of college when the course will start, and thus it will be difficult if the course extends beyond one semester.
The duration of the certificate course is 1-year, and the course usually starts in August/September and ends in May.
Hello Sir, I’ve passed my 12th this year, and right now I’m doing a Certificate in Spanish from Daulat ram College. I also want to take admission in BA in Spanish Honours. So, I applied to the DU 4th cut-off list in the Department of GRS. But as I’ve not studied the Spanish language in my 12th that’s why after deducting 5% my percentage is not meeting the list. And I don’t think I’ll get my admission because after deducting 5% my % is only 73.50.
So, sir I just want to ask that can I take admission to the Department of GRS next year when my certificate in Spanish will be done? Will they consider it and not deduct 5%? Or they’ll still deduct 5% on my 12th best four?
To the best of my knowledge, they don’t deduce 5% only if one has studied Spanish in the 12th, and not a certificate in Spanish. As an alternative, you can pursue a degree program in any stream of your choice, and along with complete an advanced diploma in Spanish and take DELE A1 to B2. Knowledge wise, it will be as good as BA in Spanish.
Sir, what is the eligibility for taking admission in BA in Spanish in the department of GRS? Is it a full-time course or part-time??
The admission is given based on 12th marks. It is a full-time degree program.
Gargi good for English + German, or GRS for German / Spanish?
Both offer different types of courses. For example, Gargi offers part-time programs, whereas GRS conducts only full-time degree courses in these two languages. If you are looking for a BA in English, along with a part-time German or Spanish course, you can consider Gargi.
How is Delhi college of arts and commerce for foreign languages? Which is a better between the department of Germanic and Romance studies and Delhi college of arts and commerce. Also, is there any deduction levied in the best four aggregates of the candidate in Gargi and DCAC in a foreign language?
It all depends on the choice of language and type of courses you’re seeking. For example, the GRS department does not offer a part-time course in French, German, Spanish, and Italian. On the other hand, DCAC college does not conduct degree programs in foreign languages. Every college has different criteria. You have to check with the respective college. But in most cases, they consider the best 4 if eligibility is marks obtained in the 12th.
What would be the difference in B.A. in English + German or BA Hons. in German/Spanish? Which is better? If want to go into journalism. Pls only about the degree, not a diploma or other.
The same difference between a degree and short-term courses. There is no better one. Pick the one as per your interest and career goal. If you want to be in the field of journalism, pick the bachelor in Journalism. Similarly, if your objective is a career in German, then BA + MA in German is an excellent choice. Irrespective of what you choose, you can always learn a foreign language part-time, along with a full-time UG degree program.
Hello Sir,
I am searching for cut-offs in DU in the French language but no college is showing French or any other foreign language cut off. Is there any notice that will release or there is any other site to check cut-offs in DU in Foreign languages?
Various colleges publish the merit list on their website though sometimes, it is tricky to find due to the cluttered websites. And in some cases, they publish only on the notice board at their campuses.
Sir, I want to know what is the requirement for a full-time degree course like ba in french in du colleges. And on what basis they select the students? I also want to know that, sir, which colleges offer a full-time French course?
Only Arts faculty through the Department of Germanic and Romance Studies offers a full-time BA in French. The admission is based on merit-list, i.e., marks obtained in the 12th board.
Sir,
I want to take a full-time course in the Korean language. I am in class 12th. Which college should I pursue?
DU does not offer a full-time BA in Korean. You can try JNU and Jamia Millia Islamia. The admission to both is based on the entrance test.
Hello sir, I just want to ask you that I want admission to a certificate course in French from Delhi University, but now the registration date is over. So, can you plz tell me, is there any chance to re-open the admission in 2020. Please tell.
Unlikely if the last date is over. Nearly 20 DU colleges offer the certificate in French. So, maybe you can check if any admission is still going on in some of these colleges.
Sir, can I do 2 certificates part-time courses from DU from 2 different colleges?
Yes, if it is feasible and beneficial for you.
Sir, I am asking that is it feasible? Is it possible according to DU rules and regulations? I want to do both from DU at the same time.
I’m not aware of any such DU restriction. If it is possible to manage both, you can pursue two certifications simultaneously.
Hi Vikash,
By when do you expect the DU colleges will reopen? Even if they reopen, would they risk it by taking the certificate courses offline too? I want to join the Spanish certificate course, but I’m not working in Delhi. Therefore, I won’t be able to attend any offline classes. Should I apply for the course in St. Stephens and hope that it remains online throughout?
No. If you are not in Delhi and are not planning to come anytime soon. Avoid! The certificate course is an offline course, and the current online sessions are temporary. Once they resume regular classes, whether it happens in 4 weeks or 4 months, online classes will stop. Plus, by May-July next year, things might improve to conduct an exam.
You can enroll in some private institutes. Most are offering online sessions irrespective of your location, and the quality is also better than DU at some of the centers. You can take the DELE diploma, which is more acceptable than a DU certificate.
Hello sir, My best of four marks are 87 and I scored 92 in English. Will, i able to make in St. Stephens for a certificate language course in French?
Difficult to say. It depends on the total number of applicants and marks they obtained in the 12th. You can wait for the final cut-off marks.
Sir,
Are there any colleges that offer the certificate/full course online? I’m planning on pursuing journalism but also have an interest in learning Korean. Are there any colleges in Delhi University that do so?
Not in my knowledge. These days, most of the educational institutions are conducting online classes, but it is temporary.
Hello Sir, I want to apply for a certificate course in Spanish. I have completed my UG from DU. So sir, can you please tell me how to apply the form and from where.
(i) Select the Colleges offering a certificate in Spanish. The list of colleges is mentioned above. (ii) As per your choice, visit the respective College website, and apply if forms are available. To make the entire process simple, choose only 3-4 nearby Colleges.
Sir, has the admission of part-time certificate courses in Spanish started in du? Please reply as soon as possible.
Yes, but dates vary depending on the college.
Hello sir, I am a working professional and wanted to do a part-time Diploma in French from Jesus & Mary college, what are the eligibility criteria for it and application process?
J&M is a women-only college. Plus, a part-time Diploma might not be suitable for you if you are working. You can also try some private institutes.
Sir, does learning foreign languages help in getting a government job?
Not really.
Hi Vikash, great article. Even for a Postgraduate, only the 12th marks are considered for admission to certificate courses or UG/PG as well? I’m interested in applying for Spanish course at St. Stephens, Ramjas, or Hansraj. The forms aren’t out yet still.
Yes, only based on 12th marks.
Sir, can I get a job in the embassy if I get an advanced diploma in French/German/Japanese from any Du College.
Difficult. There are very few new openings in embassies, and in most cases, you need skills other than languages.
Sir, I have learned Japanese online, through videos, apps, and also through books. Now, if I need a diploma, would I still have to start from n5 level in a private institute or can I attain a diploma simply by passing an exam?
If your Japanese is good enough, you can directly give the JLPT without taking regular courses. Another option is to take an orientation test in any pvt institute to get enroll directly for N4. It all depends on your Japanese ability.
Sir, I am currently in my 2nd year of B.Com (correspondence) and I want to pursue MBA (regular) from next year. I want to join a diploma course in French/German language side by side. So, would it be helpful to pursue an MBA with a Diploma in a Foreign Language?
Yes, if MBA is regular full-time.
Sir, can I get a good job if I complete a certificate-diploma-advance diploma in the German Language from Daulat Ram College? Also, does the college provide placement for diploma or you have to find a job yourself?
Advanced Diploma can help you find a position involving German. You have to find a job on your own.
Sir, I want to do a Japanese course from DU but I didn’t get any information about Foreign Language Course. Please tell me.
For that, you have read this article. Everything is mentioned here.
Sir, should do ba (hons) in the Japanese language from du.
DU does not offer a BA in Japanese.
So which university offer sir. In du can I do Japanese after graduation of ba program full time?
JNU, BHU, EFLU, VBU, Doon, and TMV are some options with a BA in Japanese. After graduation, you can part-time courses from various DU colleges.
What is the last date to apply for a language course in du?
Yesterday was the last date for UG degree programs. For part-time language courses, every college has different dates. Check the college website where you want to apply.
Hello, sir, this is Ajay I got 83.75 percentage in 12th of best for, and I am in general Ceatagory so should I get admission in GRS in French or German language. Please reply as soon as possible.

French – Alliance Française, German – Max Mueller Bhavan, and Japanese – MOSAI and Japan Foundation.
Thanks, sir ji.

Best is quite subjective, but these institutes are great. If you want more options, you can check on this blog for the articles related to several languages-specific centers in Delhi.
Can you please suggest to me some good private institute in Delhi for learning Spanish language?
Instituto Cervantes and Instituto Hispania.
I have done B.Com as a non-collegiate and also done a part-time certificate in French from Delhi university. If I complete my advanced diploma in French from DU, can I get a good job, or can I get admission to MA French from Delhi university? Please reply as soon as possible.
Yes, you can find a job. Since there is no direct admission to MA, you have to appear for an entrance test. However, your Advanced Diploma can help you prepare.
Sir, pursuing part-time courses for a certificate, then a diploma and then an advanced diploma in foreign languages will help me in getting a good job? Is it beneficial to invest time here in search of a good job in the future?
Yes, possible.
Du says that in admission for ba in a foreign language in GRS 5% marks will be deducted If I haven’t studied it in 12th. I am a general category with 87%. After deduction, my marks will be 82%. Will I get admission. Please reply.
Yes, that’s true. It is difficult to predict. Last year, the last cut-off (general) was around 85% for French, Spanish, and German. For Italian, it was around 80%.
Sir, I have learned Spanish through online classes and apps, so is it important to have a degree from any recognized organization of Spanish for a job in the same field.
Yes, but you don’t need to study at any educational institution. You can directly give the DELE or SIELE test to gain an international Spanish diploma.
Sir, I want to apply for certificate program in du 2020-21 but I can’t find any information on the du official website. Can you please give me information regarding this?

Sir, please tell me I got 55% marks in the 12th and I want to get admission full time in the French language in DU. Is it possible without entrance exam I get admission in DU?

Last year, the cut-off was between 80% to 90%, depending on various categories. To sum up, it is not possible to get admission with 55%. You can try private institutes or part-time courses offered by various DU colleges.

After completing the 12th, he can apply for DU. For private institutes, there is usually no eligibility criteria. The admission is mostly done based on firs-come and first-serve. While it is possible to make a career solely based on Spanish. However, I’d suggest going for a combination. For example, Bachelor and Master program in the in-demand stream along with part-time Spanish with a goal of DELE C1.

TOPIK Level IV will enable her to crack the entrance for MA. Besides, she can also try for a 2-year PG Intensive Advanced Diploma in Korean from DU through the department of East Asian studies. The entrance for the same will be conducted in May.

Barring 1-2 exceptions, GRS Department at Faculty of Arts is the only option for BA in Foreign Languages.
But sir I think that some colleges also offer the same.

Normally, there is no entrance exam for a Certificate course. The admission is done on the basis of marks obtained in 12th. It will be extremely difficult to track so many Languages and Colleges. Thus, pick a language and select few nearby Colleges from the aforementioned list. Then track 3-4 Colleges via their official website. Even if you miss to apply to a particular college. No need to worry. There are more and even better options beyond DU.
Hi Sir,
I have completed A1 in Spanish from Instituto Cervantes and would like to do a diploma in Spanish from DU. Am I eligible? What would be the syllabus of this entrance exam specifically of ST STEPHENS as I m currently working and can only do on weekends?
For Diploma, Certificate is the language concerned is a prerequisite. You may be eligible but class timing and pace of the course may or may not be suitable for you. I’d suggest joining any reputed centre like Instituto Hispania in Panchsheel Park. They also offer a Spanish course on weekends and the fee is quite affordable. With some good teaching staff including natives, it is also an authorized centre for the SIELE exam in India.
Sir today when I fill the DU registration form, it did not show the short term courses. How can I found the short term courses in du?
The current registration form is only for full-time courses like BA or MA. The part-time courses are not DU regular courses and it is offered by various colleges and the admission process usually starts from mid-June. My suggestion would be to choose a Language, then pick a few nearby Colleges and apply by visiting the concerned Colleges when forms will be available.
Does it mean sir there won’t be daily classes and only Sunday classes?
No, it means there will be 2-3 classes per week for usually 2 hours each. It can be either weekday or weekend.

The eligibility criteria vary greatly from one College to another and requirements change every year. When the forms will be available between the 2nd to 4th week of June, You can check the eligibility criteria of these 16 Colleges and apply accordingly. Choose a nearby College!

Sir, I’m studying B.Pharm (3rd year) from DIPSAR. My percentage in 12th was 93.33% (2017). Can I take admission in a German language course in St. Stephens? If, Yes share the procedure. Thank you and Regards.
The part-time courses are advantageous for existing full-time students of DU due to class timing. You can join any private institute. As far as St. Stephen College is concerned, you can visit the College and apply when the forms will be available. Maybe in June!
Sir, when the German language diploma result will come?
Usually in May or June. You can always contact your College!
Can I do MA in language after B.COM? Please guide me and if I can’t and I have just taken the final year exam. Please sir help me.
No, without prior advanced knowledge in the language concerned, it is not possible to do an MA in any foreign language. Pick a language and then apply in one of the DU affiliated Colleges. You can also join any private institute.
Hello sir, I got 46 in English in the 12th. Will I get admission in any DU college? Please sir reply me.
For admission, aggregate or overall marks are considered. Difficult to say, you can try some not so popular Colleges.
Sir can u pls tell me how to online registration in a foreign language from du.
The registration process is yet to start.
When does Onine registration start for the foreign language certificate course in DU?
Usually mid-June to 1st week of July. Every College has different dates. Therefore, selected few Colleges and track regularly.
Sir, I got 77% in 12th class and I am from SC category can I got admission in DU for a French or German language course for 3 years part-time.
Different Colleges have different cut-off marks. Choose the language, select a few Colleges (prefer nearby) and apply. I’m sure you’ll get through it.
Hello Sir,
I am a working professional (Chartered Accountant). Got 89% in 12th standard. Can I pursue any part-time language course particularly French or Japanese? What would be the criteria?
Yes, but DU may not be the best option due to odd timing and slow-paced classes. You can join any good private institutes. You can find all the lists on this blog.
Sir I am gaurav and I have passed 12th with 71% , so can you please tell me which one is best form me part time course or full time course? And I am trying to get diploma so can I get.
The Bachelor program is not available in many languages and 71% is not enough to get admission for the same. First, choose a language and then select a few nearby Colleges and when forms will be available, you can apply.
Sir,
I want to know something for my niece she got 72% in 12th, now she is very interested to join (BA Hons in Spanish) from the Department of Germanic and Romance. Can she take admission on her marks basis? or how can she apply?
Last year the cut-off mark was between 85% to 90%. So it will tough to get admission with 72%. She can apply when the forms will be available after 20th May.
Hi Vikas sir
Please share your number. We want to meet you personally for some guidance.
Regards
Monu Verma
That would be difficult though can send me an email.
I have secured 75% marks in 12th. I want to take admission in part-time foreign language course “French” so how can I apply for it for the session 2019-20 and which college should be considered according to my 12th %.
There are approximately 16 DU Colleges with a Part-time French course. You can pick a few as per the distance and apply when the forms will be available. The cut-off marks change every year so difficult to say where you will get the admission.
Sir I have got 63% in 12th I want to do a certificate course in Spanish from du can I eligible?
The part-time language courses in DU are not regular courses. It means the admission procedure and cut-off marks vary greatly from one college to another. So, it depends on the College.
Hello Sir, I’ve passed class 12 with 75% marks Can I get admission in DU with this percentage? And If I can then I have to give an entrance exam? How to prepare?
The admission in DU is done on the basis of marks obtained in 12th. 75% may not be enough for BA courses. You can try for certificate courses when the form will be available. DU does not conduct any entrance test for UG programs.
Sir, I have 83% of my best four subjects. I have done the registration to take admission in BA honors in a foreign language. What is the chance to get admission in Graduation BA Spanish or BA French?
Difficult to say. Based on last year cut-off, little difficult but 2019 is a different year. Hope for the best 🙂
Sir, I want to pursue a part-time certificate course in either Spanish, French or Korean as I am doing the job and I am free only on Sat and Sun. I got 73% in 12th and my age is 29. Can I get DU college? PS: I need to do from one of DU college only for some reason.
There is no age restriction. You can definitely try. There is one problem. Most of the part-time classes are conducted on weekdays either in the morning (7 to 10) or evening (4 to 7). Very few Colleges offer weekend classes and there is no way one can know in advance.
Thanks for the reply Sir. I have 1 question, will DU mention in the advertisement (during form filling) whether the course is for the weekend or not? If not, then how will I know?
Mostly, they don’t. I’m afraid you cannot know and in any case, weekend classes are rare in DU colleges. The timing is designed by keeping students in mind and not employers. For working professionals, private institutes are better.
Sir, can you please tell me the best option for me to learn Spanish/Korean (any one of them) as a weekend course (Sat and Sun) in Delhi?
For Spanish — Cervantes, Mundo Latino, and Instituto Hispania and Korean — KCC, IICKL, and Arirang.
Sir, I’m 12th pass student with 83%, I’m scoping for BCA and I also want to pursue Spanish language certificate course in DU, how can I apply for it?
When forms will be available, you can select the College and apply either online or visiting the respective College.
Please let me also confirm that I am in the 2nd year of open college, pursuing ba hons, so can I still join the full-time course in du, and if yes then in which colleges full-time language courses are available and fees, sir tell me everything, I hope you get my points which I want to be clear on.
Only Arts faculty offers full-time language courses. It will difficult to pursue two-degree courses simultaneously. You ‘ll know the fee when the form will be available. You can always contact DU for any questions.
What’s the fee structure of foreign language courses in du?
The fee structure will vary depending on College and course though DU fee is usually affordable.
Sir when will the admissions in UG BA (honors) for French in St. Stephen’s College starts?? I have got 91 Marks in English and overall 85% Marks in 12th exams. Will I be able to get admission in the college?
NO College affiliated to DU offers BA in French. GRS Dept at Arts faculty is the only options. The form will be available from/after 20th May.
Sir,
When will be the admission start in Venkateswara college for a certificate course in German and I have to do a certificate, diploma and advanced diploma course in a row and what’s a fee for it? Plz, suggest me sir.

Hello sir i want to do French or German language course. Can i add hindi elective and English core both for best four subjects?
Once you take admission in BA in French or German, you can choose other elective subjects if it is offered.
Sir, I recently 12th pass and I enroll in a language course in BA & B.Com in the Spanish language. Tell me what’s the process to start the courses.
Sorry I didn’t get you. You want to pursue a BA in Spanish or B.Com or part-time Spanish course along with Bachelor program in any other stream? Whatever you decide, you can apply when the form will be available in May/June.
Sir I have got 70% in class12. I want to do German and Spanish course can I do it. When form will be available for this course in du. In English I have got 80 marks can I get any college.
You can choose between Spanish or German, then select Few Colleges offering the course. Apply when forms will be available. Keep an eye on the official website for admission notification.
Hello Sir,
My brother is completed his graduation in accounts Hons. and he want to pursue foreign language. Our cousin sister and sister-in-law both are Korean interpreters. So he is also want to pursue Korean or Japanese. Please suggest me what is best for him and because he is from another stream so what will be the challenges he will face? also college for these courses in Delhi.
Thanks in Advance.
Of course, he can make a career in languages irrespective of past academic qualifications. The choice of language should never be forced but it should be done through personal interest and long term goals. He can try for DU’s 2-year full-time PG Intensive Diploma. Once he cleared the SLAT test, he can choose between Korean (KF-1) or Japanese (JF-1). No prior knowledge is required in the corresponding language.
Sir; which is best language??
There is no such thing as “Best Language”. Everyone has a different choice depending on the various subjective and objective reasons.
Sir, can one pursue certificate course in foreign language from Delhi University being an outsider (not a student of DU)?
Yes, outside DU students can also apply.
Sir my marks are 68% in 12 boards can i get admission in any sort of du or jnu i can pursue any language?
Last date is over for JNU and Jamia. As far as DU is concerned, 68% is not enough for BA but might be ok for few part-time certificate courses in various foreign languages.
Hello sir, I passed 12th with 70%. Can I apply for BA (Hons) in Japanese? Please suggest me.
DU does not offer BA in Japanese.
hey, sir
I want to know the timings and dates of full time (degree) courses in German and Italian language in arts faculty or any du college, I scored 74% in 12th, so if you could share the details, please do as hurry as possible.
The admission for BA in German or Italian has not yet started. The tentative date is 20th May 2019.
Sir,
I passed class 12th and got 60%. I want to do language course. Can you tell which language is best Chinese or Japanese? and how to get admission in JNU OR DU?
Last date to apply is over for JNU whereas DU does not offer BA in Chinese or Japanese. You can try 3-year Advanced Diploma in Mandarin or Japanese from Daulat Ram, St. Stephen’s or Ramjas. Both languages are good choice.
Hello sir
What are the fees structure of these colleges in Delhi university main campus.
Fees vary depending on course, college and they can change the fees structure every year. However, DU fees are usually affordable.
My ward opted for Chinese / Japanese/ Korean as graduate level foreign language for JNU entrance. Is there any other universities in India who pursue Chinese / Japanese/ Korean graduate level courses. Else which language is better.
There are not many Universities with Bachelor program in Japanese or Chinese or Korean. EFL and BHU are two good options but the last date is over for the 2019-20 session. DU does not offer such a course. Visva-Bharati, Central University of Jharkhand, Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth are few options you can consider.
Hello sir, I have completed m.sc mathematics with an aggregate of 72% from madras university. Currently am residing in Gurgaon and i want to learn certificate course in French from Delhi university. Am I eligible to do that? If so please suggest me good colleges under Delhi university whether it is a part time or full time course and tell me about fee details also. Thank you.
DU through various Colleges offers a part-time certificate course in French. Of course, you can apply but DU won’t be very helpful to you. If you want to learn French, better to join any French institute in Gurgaon. Read — French Course in Gurgaon.
Sir, I want to learn the French language from DU. When will the admission start for these courses?
May-June 2020!
I got 55% in 12th. Can I get admission in du full time in the French language without entrance exam?
For a bachelor in French, there is no entrance test. But to get admission, one needs, on average, between 80% to 90%, depending on cut-off marks.
Hello sir,
I want to take admission in Spanish language in Delhi University. I have completed my graduation. Please tell me which colleges are good for Spanish language in Delhi university and when will be the admission start and what’s its process?
St. Stephen’s and Daulat Ram College are good and both offer Spanish till Advanced Diploma. Rather than enrolling in any DU Colleges, it would be better to join any good private centre. You can cover more in less time with personal attention though fees will be on higher sides.
Hello sir Sir i have completed my 12th in 2012 and doing MA in English now i want to pursue Degree Course in French. Is it possible sir?
Yes. You can try for BA in French through GRS Department ay DU. Admission is done on the basis of marks obtained in 12th.
Dear Vikash Sir,
I am 10 class passed with 66%. can i eligible for Chinese Language certificate course. Kindly let me know asap.
Regards
Deepak
No. You need to have a minimum of 45% marks in 12th to pursue Certificate in Chinese.
Sir I want to do language course in Spanish. What is the procedure of admission and which will be the best colleges in Delhi?
The choice of course will depend on your situation, requirement, and duration. You can apply for DU colleges when forms will be available in May. If you just want to learn Spanish, you can also try any private centre.
Sir can I take admission in Chinese certificate course on the merit basis as I gain 59% marks in class 12th from the art side?
Difficult to say. It depends on the College cut-off, and it varies significantly from one college to another.
Hey VIKASH, one of my friend completed 1 year certification of Spanish language. Now she wanted to complete diploma for the same language from DU university. So can you please suggest the course or college and procedures?
As far as I’m aware, 4 colleges (St. Stephen, Daulat Ram, ANDC, DCAC) offer a Diploma in Spanish. She can apply by visiting the respective College when forms will be available in May/June.
Hey,
I am pursuing B.sc from IGNOU. Can I apply for French certificate. Because I do business recently. I need to learn something new. Please send me details.
You can apply online when forms will be available (LINK). Check — IGNOU Language Courses.
Hi Vikash Sir,
I want to learn Spanish German and French languages. Kindly suggest from which university I’ll go for admission. JNU registration date was 18th april and I got to know on same day for that. Please help me on this.
Firstly, you have to pick one language between French, German and Spanish. The last date for most of the Universities is over. You can try some private institutes.
Hi Sir, I completed BA English honours from DU in 2013 and have done Masters in English honours from IGNOU, I tried clearing NET exam but with no results. I also did content writing jobs in private sector but experience has not been good and I don’t want to continue with it. Now i’m quite confused about my career as I don’t know what to do next. Will language certificate help me getting some good job opportunities. Or any other option that can give direction to my career?
You have not failed but success seems to evade you. While knowledge of foreign language offers plenty of opportunities but the certificate is not enough. Due to the competitive job market, Advanced Diploma or B2/equivalent is a prerequisite for a decent job.
These types of language courses will take roughly 3 years. I’d suggest finding a job using your existing skills and at the same time learn the language of your choice. In the long run, the right mix will benefit your career. Good Luck.
Sir,
I am interested in learning Korean and Japanese, but I can only undertake part-time course as I’m working. Can you please suggest the Institutes i can join?
Japanese and Korean are two unrelated languages. The knowledge of one won’t help in others. You can pick one as per your goal and interest. Learning two languages simultaneously may not be a good idea. Since University may not be feasible for working professionals. Thus, you can enroll in any good institute.
Sir is there any certificate course from any government universities for foreign language courses?
Yes, several colleges affiliated to DU offer Certificate course in a variety of foreign languages.
I completed my graduation last year. Now I want to learn Korean language from Delhi University. Sir please tell me the criteria for the enrollment. Is there any job opportunities after learning Korean Language in India or Korea?
In DU, you are eligible for both a 3-year part-time Advanced Diploma from Daulat Ram or 2-year Full-time Advanced Diploma (KF-1,2) from Arts Faculty through entrance test. Admission for both will start in May/June. You can also try a private Korean institute in Delhi.
There are opportunities but there is only one caveat. The number of Korean specialists jobs are limited and most of these jobs require a very high level of Korean proficiency. This might take 3-4 years! This is possible if you are truly interested in learning Korean, and not just K-POP and K-Drama. 🙂
Sir when the admission will start for Japanese course.
Sometime in May.
sir, I passed 12th this year. I want to do a diploma course in Japanese. Is this available in du?
Yes, but before the Diploma, you have to pursue a 1-year certificate course.
Sir recently I gave 12th and i am fond of indulging myself in BA Foreign language. Do i require to have prerequisite knowledge about the language I wanna choose say French? Will some prior basic knowledge, alphabets, translation will be helpful? Any book needed to learn so that it will be good to learn from day one?
No. You don’t need any prior knowledge since BA in any language course starts from zero. Alphabets are not required in starting and translation is not the right language learning method. Prior knowledge is good but neither is required nor make much difference.
Sir i am a student of bcom programme 2 year from non college. Can i get admission in certificate course of french language from DU. What is the procedure, Date of entrance exam and syllabus. Please sir reply me as soon as possible.
Yes, you are eligible. You can apply when forms will be available between May to July. French is offered by 16 DU Colleges. Every college has a different admission procedure like direct admission, or cut-off marks or entrance test. It’s better to pick a few Colleges (location, reputation, fees, etc) and then apply by visiting respective Colleges if the online form is not available.
Hello sir, I want to know that does it matter if we do French course from government or private college? Which one is better? and if we completed French course BA from private, can we do ma from government? and which is the best private college for doing French course in Delhi? Does college matter for our career? or Knowledge matters more? Sir please tell me I wanna know.
Government Universities are better because (i) Fees are very nominal and you will never be concerned about fees. (ii) They usually hire only eminent and highly-qualified faculty. (iii) The university organizes regular conferences, seminars, events, and sometimes also offer scholarships and exchange programs since many Indian Universities have MoU with numerous Universities abroad.
The better, however, does not mean you can’t be successful by studying in any pvt institutions. In the end, only knowledge matters! There are few private Universities like Amity with a BA in French program though I don’t recommend it. The admission for MA in French is done through an entrance test and only eligibility criteria is Bachelor degree. You can crack the entrance only on the basis of French skills. It does not matter where you have studied.
I am in Alliance Française B1 A. I want to do my advance diploma from DU. I haven’t done diploma. So what’s the procedure? Can i do masters in French after advanced diploma?
The eligibility criteria for Advanced Diploma is Diploma in French from DU or an examination recognised as equivalent. Therefore, it is not possible. I’d suggest you to continue your French at AFD and try to complete DELF B2. Then your knowledge will be enough for DU or JNU entrance test for MA in French.
I want to learn chinese language and i passed out my 12th in 2015 so can i able to take a admission to any college. I have 62% in 12th standard so please give me ur advice. And plz tell me which language is best for making career german, French, chinese etc.
You can try 3-year part-time Advanced Diploma from one of the DU affiliated colleges. The admission process will start in May-June. You can also try private institutes like HanYou or MeiYu in Delhi. There is no best language as far as career is concerned. Pick the one that you like, goal, or match your other academic interests. Read — Career in Foreign Languages after 12th
Sir, i want to learn French language as a profession. So please suggest me which course should be choosed.
If you have already completed a bachelor program, pick a 3-year part-time Advanced Diploma. Additionally, you can also try one the French Institute in Delhi. If you are 12th passed, try for BA and then MA in French.
Sir i am doing certificate course in Chinese language from school of foreign language (ministry of defence). Can i take admission in diploma in chinese language course in delhi University?
The eligibility criteria for Diploma course is Certificate in the same language from DU or an examination recognised as equivalent. So i guess SFL one-year COP might be eligible to apply but i cannot confirm it. Contact the respective College when admission process will start.
Sir, What is the admission process, eligibility and criteria for BA in french in DU? I have to apply direct in DU or college concerned to French?
Only Department of GRS at Arts faculty offers BA in French. Eligibility criteria is 12th passed and admission is through cut-off marks. Last time it was 85%+ in General category.
Sir I am graduate from English honors. And now I want to pursue diploma in French. So is It possible to take admission in DU for diploma course?
First, you have to apply for 1-year Certificate in French. After successful completion of the program, you can enroll in Diploma (2nd year) and Advanced Diploma (3rd year). If you’re interested in professional French classes, you can also try one of the private institutes.
Hello sir. I have given many entrance exams for ba Hons. in foreign languages. Results have not been declared, though I am not sure that I will crack it. I am selected in Amity University Kolkata for BA in a foreign language. So I want to know will it be a good place to learn?
Which entrance exam? Amity is an average University and it should never be the 1st option.
I want to learn French but it is 54% in 12th class. Do I have to do with DU or JNU or from a private institute? And if I do not get admission in DU or JNU, then I can do MA (FRENCH) after DELF B1 level. And after doing BA (PRO) can I do MA (FRENCH)? Please suggest to me, sir. I am very confused.
For BA in French, DU cut off usually goes upward of 85%. You can try JNU entrance test. Last date to apply is 15th April. As per your situation, private institute is more realistic option for you. For MA, you need knowledge equivalent to BA/Advanced Diploma in French or DELF B2. Thus after B2, you can try for MA entrance test.
Sir, I am a graduate from DU, Zakir Husain Delhi College in 2015. I want to learn French and recently I came to know about BA, MA, M Phil, and PhD in French. What is the eligibility criteria? Will Advanced Diploma in French will help me to pursue BA, MA, M.Phil or Ph.D.?
Few points: 1) For BA in French, admission in DU is done only on the basis of marks obtained in the 12th. Your bachelor’s degree won’t make any difference. 2) Knowledge wise, Advanced Diploma and BA in French is more or less the same. Thus after Advanced Diploma or BA, you should try for the MA entrance test for French. After MA, M.phil and Ph.D. is possible.
If you want to learn French, DU is not the only option. You can also try a 2-3 year course in a good institute. Fees will be on the higher side but the quality will be usually good.
Sir am I eligible for advance diploma in French from DU? I have done b1 level from Alliance Française de Delhi also have A2 also.
No. For Advanced Diploma, eligibility criteria is Diploma in French from DU or any other University. They may take a test if French course was done from any other institute. Why you need to do Advanced Diploma? In my opinion, DELF B2 is better than Advanced Diploma from DU. Since you’ve already done B1, you can continue studying at AFD with a goal to complete B2 and then C1. Bonne Chance!
Sir I want to do course in DU for BA hons French language. Sir how can I prepare.
The arts faculty through GRS department offers BA in French. The admission will be done in the month of May through merit list / marks obtained in 12th. There is no entrance test.
Hello sir, your blog is really helpful. But I have one doubt I have done b1 in French from alliance française and Also given a delf of b1. So can I take admission for MA in French from du? Or can opt for a pg diploma in French. When will the entrance going to be happen?
DU does not offer PG diploma in French. For MA in French, you need knowledge equivalent to B2. The admission procedure will start in May. You can start preparing for entrance test.
Sir, I have completed my graduation in history. Now I want to do diploma in Japanese from D.U. Sir please tell me the process of admission.
You need to complete 1-year Certificate in Japanese before you can take on a Diploma course. You can apply for Certificate program in May-June when forms will be available. The admission is either done on the basis of first-come and first served or cut-off marks.
Sir, i am 12 passed and i want to do diploma from chinese language from du. am i eligible for it?
Before the Diploma, you have to pursue 1 year Certificate course in the same language. The 3-year courses is divided into Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year respectively.
Hello sir, I want take admission in Chinese language so, I want to ask how to admission in d.u in Chinese language and how to preparation entrance for Chinese language.
There are two kinds of Chinese courses offered by D.U. 1) One-year Part-time Certificate / Diploma / Advanced Diploma in various DU affiliated Colleges. Admission is done through either cut-off or first-come and first-served in June-July. 2) Two-year Full-time PG Intensive Diploma and Advanced Diploma (CF-1 and 2). Admission is through the SLAT entrance test to be conducted in May.
Sir i’m in the final year of my bachelor in tourism i just want to know is it possible for me to go for MA German without having any BA knowledge in German. Also should i have to go through the entrance or direct admission can be done.
No, it is not possible. For MA in German, admission is through entrance exam and to qualify the test, knowledge similar to BA or Advanced Diploma in German, or Goethe Zertifikat Deutsch B2 is required.
Sir I want to do bba and any foreign language course at same time. Can I do?
Yes. One full-time course (BBA) and one part-time (Language) is definitely possible!
Sir i am doing Japanese language course from Nihonkai level N5 basic 2. Also I am doing Bcom from DU. I want to go for a regular Undergraduate course in Japanese language from DU. I am not sure that whether I am eligible or not. If yes, how can I take admission. Sir it would be a great help if I could get guidance from you 🙂
Well, DU does not offer a regular BA in Japanese. If you are happy with Nihonkai, you can continue with a target of JLPT N3/N2. After that, you can appear for entrance exam for MA in Japanese from JNU or DU.
Hi sir, I have just completed my class 12th. I want to take whole Japanese language course after 12th. What is the whole procedure to apply for JNU or DELHI university for a full 5 year degree course.
JNU offers 5 years integrated BA and MA in Japanese. You can apply now. The last date to apply for the JNU entrance exam is 15th April. Delhi University does not offer a BA in Japanese. You can try 3-year part-time Advanced Diploma when forms will be available in May-June and then MA in Japanese from Dept. of East Asian Studies (Arts Faculty – DU).
I have completed my engineering diploma in mechanical now I want to study German language regular course. But I have 10 and 3 year diploma certificate I have not done 10+2. can I do any language course.
No. For a Certificate or full-time BA in German from DU, minimum eligibility criteria is 12th. You can try one of the good institutes.
I’m pursuing BA 3rd year from DU, want admission in Japanese Language Course I want to do part time course weekend classes, i am eligible to take a admission and from where is get admission form?
Yes, you are eligible. The weekend option may or may not be offered by the respective College. You have to check the class timing when the admission process will start in May/June. Thanks to the rising demand of the Japanese language in India, there are plenty of good options in Delhi.
Hello sir,
I have done my graduation in 2006 and then started CA but after completing PCC level started doing job. Right now I can’t decide my direction can foreign language course can help me to give right direction to my career and if yes so which course I should do.
While language do offer plenty of career opportunities. It has its own strength and weakness. For example, language learning is a long process and takes 2 to 5 years. There is no benefit of short-term courses. To spend a considerable amount of time, you need everlasting motivation and proper reasons. Only you can decide about that. I’d suggest you to spend some time reading about languages. Eventually, you ‘ll able to take informed and right decision.
