I am currently doing ba hons Russian from JNU Delhi. And I have also been selected for ba hons in Chinese in EFLU Hyderabad. What should I choose!?

Hi Vikash,
How is the World Languages Institute (Delhi) for taking up online Mandarin classes?
Thanks in advance.
I had never heard of it. So, can’t comment on the quality.
Oh okay. Thank you for replying.
Since I live in Noida, can you please recommend an institute in Noida that’s good for learning Mandarin? I researched a bit and came across an institute called ‘Big Ben,’ the language institute. How is it? Or any other institute?
Try some better options, perhaps in Delhi. Or find a Chinese teacher.
Ok, will work on it. Thanks much for all the help.
Hi. I am planning to enroll in HSK-5 at IndiaChina academy. I have no idea about how this institute is, need some review! thanks!
Is it in Mumbai? I can’t comment on that as I am not aware of this institute.
Do Chinese Japanese applications open in South Campus Colleges? Any weblinks to know details?
You have to visit the official sites of the concerned college offering those courses. Normally, the application forms are available during/after regular courses.
I am interested in course.
Enroll at any reputed learning center.
Hello Sir,
Which language is best for logistics business Chines or Japanese?
Both are good. Pick as per your preference, interest, and feasibility.
Hello sir,
I want to learn the Chinese language and I want a job related to that can you tell me what I should do or from which college or Institute.
Thank you
Regards
There are dozens of options in Delhi. You can pick as per feasibility, location, and budget. In the private space, HanYou and Meiyu are two nice choices. In DU colleges, St. Stephen, Ramjas, and Daulat Ram, like colleges, are good.
Sir does JNU offers b.a in both Chinese and Korean together cause I am planning to learn both together before giving my UPSC for becoming an IFS.
No. You always do honors in 1 subject.
Hi,
I want to learn Chinese for business purposes. We are an importer and currently also do business from China, but I want to increase my product range and want to get more advantage in my business by learning Chinese. What is the best Institute you recommend which are having short-term courses with good effectiveness?
Thank you
HanYou and MeiYu are two good options.
Hi, I want to learn Chinese. But I am from south India, so can I do this online mode? Are these institutions providing any online mode?
Yes, these days, almost all Chinese institutes and teachers are offering online courses. Get in touch with a few.
Hello Vikash,
I am so glad to see that you answer each question posted here. Expecting a small answer to my question as well :). I am interested in learning Chinese with regular classes. I will decide to choose either HanYou or Meiyuchinese. Just wanted to know if there is any institute or school offering offline classes and not online. If not, when can I expect to start learning Chinese offline?
Thanks & Regards,
Sandeep
You can contact both to know when they are starting offline classes. I guess most institutes will start regular classes pretty soon.
Thanks, Vikash for your prompt response.
Better not go for Chinese as the scope of mandarin is fading away. Low and underpaid with no job security. Chinese companies lay off their Indian employees very quickly without any prior notice. So much exploitation of Translator & interpreters by companies treat like untouchables no standards. Better go for Japanese, German, Spanish, Arabic, etc., instead of going for mandarin. Dont believe. Try asking those who are working professionals in this field.
Thanks for your view. I had indeed interacted with many Chinese language professionals, and there is a stark difference in viewpoints. In a nutshell, I’d say it is a mixed bag.
Hello Sir, does the department of East Asian studies provide particularly MA in Chinese? I’ve read that they provide MA in Japanese and MA in EAS, but I only want to do an MA in Chinese.
DU doesn’t offer Masters’s in Chinese. You can consider other universities like JNU, BHU, CUG, CUJ, VBU, AMU, and DOON.
I have heard that this year’s HSK exam is unlikely to happen in India. If it is so, will the certificates from private institutes like Meiyu and Hanyou be valid while applying for jobs? Moreover, is the current India-China relationship not suitable for pursuing studies in the Chinese language?
Some companies accept those certifications, whereas many won’t. You can give the HSK exam in 2021. Till then, you can continue studying Mandarin. The current India-China relationship will have a negative impact in the short to medium term, but it is too early to say about the long term. Regardless of the relation between the two countries, you can always find some job opportunities.
Sir 1. In CF1, how many books do we study 3 or 4?
2. And after studying cf1 and cf2, can we also get any scholarship? Because I want to go to China and study Chinese there, and
3. if I only do Cf2 from there can I still get a scholarship?
1. Only your teachers can answer. Typically, they cover a pre-defined syllabus and not a fixed number of books. 2. DU offers limited scholarships, and mainly to students of degree courses. You have to contact the Department of EAS for the latest updates regarding scholarships.
After banning the Chinese apps and according to the current situation between India and China, will Chinese language learning students face any difficulties in the future in finding jobs? I personally want to become a teacher of the Chinese language. I’m studying at an advanced diploma in Chinese.
The possibilities for some negative impact are likely, but not significant in the long run.
Hello, I am currently at the HSK3 level, and also i am graduating this year from Delhi University in the BA program. I wanted to know if DU provides a part-time MA in Chinese. If yes, then what is the admission criteria or procedure.
DU doesn’t offer masters in Chinese. In fact, to my knowledge, no Indian university has a part-time MA in Chinese.
Hi, I am looking for a Chinese language course. Please suggest the best institutes and also if I can understand some fee structure.
For part-time courses, you can try HanYou (Kalu Sarai) and MeiYu (Karol Bagh). The fees are reasonable. For more details, you can contact them.
Sir, I want to learn Chinese to add one language on my C.V. I am also in my last semester of graduation from D.U. Please tell me an institute where I can take classes on Sat and Sun (evening).
You can contact HanYou or MeiYu.
Sir, I am a 12th pass student and I want to learn Mandarin Chinese. Can I get admission HanYou? If yes then tell me the process.
Yes. Visit HanYou, choose the course, pay the fee, and start the classes. You can contact them.
How good are these institutes when it comes fo learning how to speak Chinese? And how important is it to learn written Chinese to be able to be a translator?
Some of them are good. One cannot become a translator without having an excellent command over written Mandarin. It means one can read books, newspapers, documents, magazines, etc. – without having to look up a dictionary very often. If you pass HSK level 6, you can read roughly 5,000 words and over 2500 Chinese characters. This should be the minimum goal.
Hi Vikash,
The article is very helpful, indeed. I am a working professional and want to learn Chinese. Whether I go for Jawaharlal Nehru Academy of language and MeiYu?
You can also add HanYou in the list. JNA might not be suitable for you due to timing. Why not visit all 3, and then make the right decision?
And when admission will open and how to apply for the Chinese language course?
Where? DU admission will start in May-June, whereas, private institutes take the enrollment on first-come and first-served.
I am a primary teacher in a private school. I am 29 years old. I am b. Com, b. Ed. I want to change my profession as I m finding it hard to pursue in teaching. So, I want to change my direction and to look forward to language courses. Plz, guide for the correct option.
Pick a language and study for the next few years through any learning center. Before that, I’d suggest giving some time and reading more about various languages. Once you’ve got an idea of what you want your future career to be, you can START.
Choosing between govt institute or private, Sometimes it becomes difficult to choose between Govt institute or private for learning Chinese. Please consider the following factors
1. Students should be limited in any language class.
2. Language study material should be the latest (language improvise with time, then why not learning the material; the issue is – in universities, the latest books have not been used).
3. Whether the Teacher / Institute is answerable to students for imparting excellent language skills.
4. Mostly student opts for govt institutes for getting a degree in the Chinese Language with a purpose that this degree will help them to get govt jobs, however, during interviews, The interviewer certainly checks your communication and reading skills on Current affairs. Therefore, it is advisable to focus on Skills along with Certification mainly. You can appear for govt jobs with HSK Certification (HSK4) also.
BTW Mr. Vikash, Thank you so much for helping and guiding others.
Thanks for your input. 🙂
How is the Langma institute of languages located at South Extension, New Delhi for learning the Chinese language? Kindly help.
I’m not aware of this institute. Thus, I don’t cover or have an opinion about that.
I want to learn the Chinese language. Please tell me where I go to study?
You can try HanYou or MeiYu. DU’s two year PG Advanced Diploma is a good option. You can try next year.
Hi Sir,
I am working in a private firm and want to learn the Chinese language only at the weekend – Saturday & Sunday. Please guide us.
You can contact some of the Institutes mentioned in the article.
I am pursuing masters in tours and travels management and in 2nd year. Which language is best in this field?
Since there is no best language, thus, you can pick one between French, Spanish, German, Mandarin, and Japanese.
Sir
I want to go for a diploma in Chinese language but want a part-time course and that too morning shift. Pls suggest where should I apply?
In DU, Before the Diploma, you have to complete a 1-year Certificate course in Chinese. Most of the part-time classes in DU are held in the evening. You can still apply to a few Colleges and wait for final list/class timing. Then you can decide. You can also contact other institutes like YMCA, BVB, HanYou, and MeiYu.
Sir, I’m just pursuing PG from du and I’m a basic learner of English. Will Chinese gonna be a good option for me or not? And for communication purpose, which option or institute will be best for me?
Yes, you can learn Mandarin in Delhi. Communication courses are fancy words. It is meant for those who just want to learn basic speaking skills for an immediate requirement or to improve the speaking part once you already know Mandarin. It will take at least 2-3 years to learn Intermediate level Mandarin. If you’re okay with the duration, you can try one of the institutes like HanYou, MeiYou, or BVB.
Hello sir, I have completed my graduation in 2015 and working in BPO sector but I want to learn the chinese language to make a better career. Please suggest in which institute I should take admission? And will the private institutes provide any kind of valid certification? Please suggest which institute give me placement as well. Thanks in advance.
You can try MeiYu or HanYou. If you’re ready for the full-time course, you can try the entrance for 2-year PG Advanced Diploma CF-1,2 from DU’s Arts faculty. You can appear for the HSK test, to get international recognized certification. In most cases, you have to find a job on your own. From a job perspective, it will take at least 3 years to learn Mandarin.
I’m looking to learn foreign language however I’m not sure which foreign language should I pursue where I can get best package. I’m 31 years old and graduated in commerce. I’m married too and looking some institute where I can get an excellent faculty to pursue language course.
Unfortunately, there is no best or better language as far as career is concerned. Only the choice of language will not correlate to higher earnings. It depends upon multiple factors like language proficiency, experience, existing academic qualification, company, job profile, sector, temperament, etc. Spend some time to read more and then make an informed decision.
Hello Vikash sir,
I am Anjali. I graduated in 2015 in Hindi, and now want to learn Mandarin for future goals. Can you please help me? How can I start? I am confused.
You can join one of the Chinese institutes. If you have any specific questions, let me know.
Many foreign study options available but the question is of career and time investment. Following factors can help to choose wisely:
1. Trade level between the countries (country you live in and foreign language you are going to learn)
2. The geographical distance between the two countries
3. Compare Per Capita income (both countries)
4. Population factor
5. Number of countries uses that particular language
Thanks for the Information Arun 🙂
Hi,
I am a hotel management graduate and currently working for a hotel in Delhi. I am looking for a short term language course either in chinese or Spanish languages. Can you please suggest me the collage and the type of course which i should enroll myself and of course the language also. Thankyou

I wanted to learn chinese language from embassy but couldn’t get any admission and fees details. Please suggest any link or phone no.
The Chinese Embassy affiliated institute used to offer a Chinese course at Green Park, New Delhi. I think they are no longer offering the course. Nowadays, the Confucius Institute (affiliated with the Ministry of Education of China) conducts Mandarin course. But there is no centre in Delhi/NCR. In Delhi, you can try MeiYu, HanYou, YMCA, or JNA. And wherever you study, you can always appear for HSK Test in Delhi recognized by China’s Ministry of Education.
Dear Sir,
I am a Geography Graduate from B Borooah College (Guwahati University) and at present a travel professional. Would like to learn Chinese Language to enhance my career. Please suggest me a right course on Chinese Language in Delhi as i don’t have any prior knowledge.
You can try HanYou or MeiYu. Both institutes offer various short-term courses as per the HSK exam. If you’re interested in a full-time course, then Delhi University’s 2-year PG Intensive Diploma Course in Chinese (CF-1 & 2) is a good option. Admission is through the SLAT entrance test to be conducted in May. No previous knowledge of Chinese is required.
Hello Sir.

What is CFI? Certificate course? The admission process will start in May and you need the 12th mark sheet. You can visit the respective college at that time and apply. Read — Chinese course in Delhi University
Very nice information.
Sir after completing advanced diploma I want to graduate in Chinese, so what is the criteria for this, and from where I do graduation?
I’m not sure about your question. Either pursue BA in Chinese or Advanced Diploma or Professional course from any institute that will help you to clear HSK Level IV / V. From knowledge point of view, all 3 options are more or less same. After that, you can either go for PG/MA or HSK Level V / VI.
Sir right now I’m learning Chinese and I want to know what is the job of a Chinese language speaker in airlines and what is the maximum salary package of this job?
And if there are any other good job offers for this language, then please suggest me some jobs (but it should a good salary package also).
If i remember correctly, you just started pursuing Certificate in Chinese from DU. As of now, just think about studying for next 3 years. To get a good job, you need minimum Advanced Diploma or HSK – level V. After 3 years, you can apply to multiple jobs at once. Salary package will depend on your proficiency level, nature of work, and company profile.
Hi, I am a graduate from IP University of 2017 Batch and I have interest in learning foreign language. But I am not sure which language I should go for?, My Major concern is that I should be enjoying the learning process of that particular Language and that language should be a high payout job for me. Please suggest me something best for me regarding the same.
Choosing the right language is very subjective and quite difficult to answer. What I or you like may or may not be good for a career. I’d recommend you read a lot at least for a few weeks and then take the decision. I’d suggest reading these three articles. 1) Which Foreign Language should I learn? 2) Why Most people fail to learn languages? 3) career choices in Foreign Languages.
