There are many options like Kolkata University, RMIC, Jadavpur, etc. All are good in their own ways. However, KCLC (Korean Culture and Language Centre) is probably the best as a private institute. It is an exclusive Korean language school and ticks most of the right boxes.

If you have an interest, you can select Korean. RMIC is a good choice, along with KCLC. Job opportunities range from traditional teachers and translators jobs to work in any Korean company or MNC that deals with Korea. While a vast majority of them are located in other major cities like Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, but I’m sure you will find some of them in Kolkatta too.

If you want to make a career in either Japanese or Korean, a certificate won’t be sufficient. Consider the long term courses say 3 years Advanced Diploma or 2nd highest level of JLPT (Japanese) or TOPIK (Korean). You can either try KCLC for Korean or IJWCA for Japanese. RMIC and CDA centre are also two good options.

Yes sir. But my parents prefer me for Kolkata because it’s nearest to me. And one more reason I also studied at Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan in New Delhi for one year, but due to some issues, I just left this course. After that again, I want to continue this course. Presently I’m in the final year of my graduation, and whether it will be beneficial to me to invest three years in Ramakrishna’s mission school of languages? That’s I want some private Spanish institute like Spanish studies in Kolkata. Will it be better for me? I also need to get a job in MNC soon.

Choose what is workable for you. If you can’t go to Delhi, consider Kolkata. If you can’t spend 3-years at RMIC, try Spanish studies. All are fine. How you study is much more important than where to study. Life is what you make it.

Chinese and Japanese are not easy. It will take 3-5 years to achieve higher proficiency in one language. I won’t recommend learning two languages simultaneously. Choose one. How long should it take to learn a language?

Kolkata University offers a Diploma in Mandarin and Japanese. Jadavpur University also offers Advanced Diploma in Japanese and a 1-year Certificate in Mandarin. You can join one of these two Colleges. If you can travel a little far, then Visva Bharati is the best choice. They run BA and MA in Japanese and Chinese. You can try Ramakrishna Mission School of Languages (French, Italian) and Alliance Française du Bengale (French). Both institutes run various short-term beginner level course.

You can try Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan located at Park Mansions, 57A, Park Street. This is probably the best choice to learn German in Kolkata. RMIC is also a good option.

I have just finished a six months beginner’s course in Ramkrishna mission. However, they only offer the six months one and for further studies, I have to go to salt lake. If I want to continue from Jadavpur university instead, what do I have to do? Can I pick up from where I left off or do I have to start from the beginning again?

Which Language? Since 6 month beginners level is not equivalent to one-year certificate course. Thus, you have to start from beginning in Jadavpur University. You can confirm from the University admission dept. The better option is continue with RamKrishna Mission.

There are not many choices. You can try the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture. They offer 2-3 years of Spanish courses. In fact, RMIC is also one of the authorized exam centre for the DELE exam in India. Aim for DELE C1/C2 in 3 years if you wish to be a translator and interpreter.

Neither. It is better to join a reputed French institute like Alliance Française in Kolkata. AF courses are designed as per DELF/DALF. Keep on making progress and one by one clear A1, A2, B1, B2. If higher fees is the concern, then join RMIC. Regardless of where you study, aim should be to complete DELF B2 within 3 years.

As far as I am aware, There is no institute for Turkish Language course in Kolkata. Try learning through self-study or online or private tutor if you find one.
