Are you exploring foreign language courses in the Embassy? Look no further! Discover the first-of-its-kind list of embassies affiliated cultural centers and institutes in Delhi & India.
There are countless benefits to studying a new language. Of all the reasons to learn a language in the increasingly globalized economy — the possible immigration, dream to go for higher studies abroad, language career, pursuit of hobby, and decent-paying language jobs are primary motivations that continue to drive demand for language courses in India.
The increase in demand for European languages like French, German and Spanish, East Asian languages namely, Mandarin, Korean and Japanese and even less commonly taught languages in India has given an impetus to the teaching of foreign languages. It has resulted in few embassies to establish their language institutes or cultural center in Delhi though few have the presence for the last few decades in Delhi and other parts of the country.
Why Study at Embassy Affiliated Learning Centres?
The language courses in embassy principal aim are to promote language, culture, traditions, arts, history, etc. in India through the organization of varied cultural events, language classes, and multiple activities.
Many embassies have also collaborated with many schools and colleges in India to promote the language and culture by supporting teaching material, foreign language teacher training workshops, varied events, and exchange program for students. They also foster admission of Indian students to their country’s higher educational institution.
Besides, Students have access to their well-maintained library and can participate in various cultural activities. They also organise different programs, i.e., music concerts, movie shows, seminars, art and photo exhibitions, cultural shows, and various other events.
The international curriculum, effective language teaching method, native and qualified teachers, exposure to a varied range cultural events, ever-growing library, vibrant, friendly & dynamic environment, access to plenty of study material and resources, etc. are some of the great reasons why to choose such cultural centres to embark the journey of language learning. There is one caveat — these classes are a little expensive.
These centers also prepare you for a variety of international languages proficiency tests such as DELF, DALF, DELE, SIELE, CELI, CILS, CAPLE, TORFL, Goethe-Zertifikat, TestDAF, HSK, JLPT, TOPIK, and many more. Moreover, these organizations are also authorized examination centers for these proficiency test, and you can also avail some discount if you’re an existing student of the center concerned.
How is it different from Colleges and Universities?
The Cultural Wing of the Embassy such as Instituto Cervantes, Alliance Française, Goethe-Institut, Camões Institute, Istituto Italiano di Cultura, Mosai, etc. mainly focus on the spoken and written part of the language due to time constraints. However, they still do acquaint their students with the culture and literature of the language they teach.
If you want to focus more on culture, history, literature, linguistics, etc. to become a college professor, researcher, translator, then University courses are the right choice. Additionally, these centers do not provide degrees like BA, MA, M.Phil, Ph.D. Thus, Indian Colleges and Universities language programs enable you to kick-start a career in languages by pursuing a single course.
