I want to ask if there’s an option of distance learning MA in Spanish language.
Not that I am aware of.
I have not taken the subject choices in cuet 2023 needed for admission to jnu for foreign language courses. I had only chosen the subjects required for zoology honors. However, I want to take the test to study foreign languages. Will these universities conducting admission through cuet also take individual entrance examinations later on? and could you suggest a few good universities with undergraduate foreign language courses without cuet?
There is no seperate test. Some go through CUET, and some have their own but not both as far as I am aware.
Sir, I am also looking forward to pursuing Bachelor’s in a foreign language (CHINESE or maybe JAPANESE). I did a bit of research and everything. I could find only the 2 best universities for foreign languages in India, i.e, JNU and the second EFLU Hyderabad (English and Foreign Language university). I am very confused between the two. Can you please help & suggest. I will be grateful to you.
Over 30 universities are offering BA in foreign languages. I wrote a detailed article on the same. Check → BA in foreign languages. While both JNU and EFLU are top-notch universities, JNU still has an edge. But both are good choices if you get the admission.
Hello sir
Can I take admission in JNU as a 2-year student, because I completed my 1-year ba prog in ncweb and also I completed my Korean language certificate course from DU Ramjas college? And now I know about jnu, so I really want to go. Is there any process for admission? Pls let me know.
No, that is not possible. Your only option is to appear for BA in Korean entrance test.
Hi Sir,
I want to apply for BA honors for Japanese in 2023. Is there any scope in Japanese and what is the average salary package after M.Phil?
While giving a rough salary estimate is difficult, the scope is pretty good. Also, there will be no more M.Phil. After masters, you have to pursue Ph.D.
Hi Vini, silly as it may seem, but can I change from MA to any BA course?
No.
Sir in which year do we get the scholarship to study abroad of our desirable foreign language country?
That depends on courses and available options. Usually, most prefer applying for masters after completing bachelors in India.
Can you happen to tell us more about the scholarship in BA German Program? I am a Fresher Student here at JNU. Also, I would like to meet you, Vikash Gupta!
There isn’t any scholarship for BA in the German program. However, the fees and other expenses are already very reasonable, which does not burden students much.
Hi Sir,
I want to attend diploma program in English language in part time manner, kindly suggest.
JNU does not have diploma in English.
Hello Sir,
I plan to attempt the CUET PG 2022 for M.A. Chinese in JNU. However, I could not find any previous year’s papers as this is the first time JNU has opted for CUET. I am confused as to how I will prepare for the entrance test. Can you recommend any sources from which I can access study materials?
Thank you so much.

What is the duration of the part-time course (Certificate Of Proficiency in Korean) at JNU?
JNU does not provide part-time Korean courses.

SIR, I want to know what should I opt BA in french or MA in french language and when will the entrance exams be happening. Please suggest to me some good colleges which provide placement too. Thank you so much.
JNU conducts entrance for both BA and MA from May to July. You can try for BA since MA is only possible if you have already done graduation and your French skills are at least B2. Although very few offer placements, JNU and Arts faculty (DU), Jamia does offer job guidance.
Oh. Thank you so much sir. And Jamia also conducts entrance exam? And when?
Yes, mainly in May-June. These days, academic terms are a bit late due to a delay in the 12th exam.

Hi Sir, I appeared for the JNUEE in 2021 for BA in the Korean language and unfortunately couldn’t get in. I’m currently doing a Certificate course at Ramjas College for the same. I want to ask if JNU still conducts exams for direct admission in the 2nd year as they used to take a written exam and a viva in our chosen language.
No. JNU no more takes direct lateral entry to BA 2nd year. They stopped this 3 years back.
Hello sir
I want to ask that I am graduated with BBA and want to learn french from JNU. How can I apply for the jnu?
You can give the entrance test for BA in French. Alternatively, you can study French at any private institute.

Hello sir, Bhawya this side. I am a student of Eng Hons (Currently in my 2nd year). To date, I’m not sure about my career like what should I choose and I get to know about career scope in a foreign language. I don’t have any prior idea about this course. Can you please help me out sir like which course I should go for and how to start my preparation? I’ll complete my graduation in 2023.
There isn’t any simple few-line answer to that. It is an altogether different world with many possibilities. I’d suggest spending some time reading various articles about foreign languages on this blog. Then, if you have any specific questions, you can always ask here. Hello sir, I want to ask can we give Entrance exam for more than one language for JNU?
It’s a common entrance for BA.
Sir, I’m pursuing my final year in B.Com (just started)? I want to learn the Korean language and build my career in that. What should I opt for bachelor, diploma, or certificate (keeping in mind that I want to do an MA in Korean through KGSP)?
BA in Korean is a good choice. Getting a KGSP scholarship is difficult due to fewer seats and a huge number of applicants. I’d recommend BA + MA in Korean if you intend to make a career in Korean.
Sir, you’re recommending me to do integrated BA+MA from university in India? Can you suggest some universities in delhi that offer BA in korean and should I apply BA in korean this year or next year?
Yes. Jamia and JNU are two options in Delhi that offer BA in Korean. You can apply this year, and you have to pass the entrance test to get admission.

Means UG degree like BA, BSc, B.Tech, B.Arch, etc.

I am not sure about that. Probably, contact the University or check if there is an option to edit the form.
Respected sir, I want to ask you that I’m pursuing my final year from B.com. Am I eligible for master in the Korean language from JNU?

Check the last few year’s questions papers. You can also study cultural aspects covered in BA in Spanish.
How can I prepare for JNUEE 2021 (BA in Spanish or Russian)?

Soon, hopefully in June.
Sir, I am a BA English literature student at Calicut university. Can I get MA in Spanish at jnu? But I had never learned Spanish before.
No.
Sir, I want to ask you that if I want to learn Korean in any college. Is it necessary to know some common Korean language? And can you please tell me about the syllabus of BA’s first year?

Sir, any recommendations for books? I mean I’m searching on the internet for days but it made me so confusing which one to buy and which not to.
You can buy a few books like R Gupta BA entrance books on Amazon or Flipkart.
Sir, I am currently pursuing graduation in the Japanese language. I want to do my MA in Japanese from JNU in the future. What JLPT level will match the entrance difficulty?
The entrance is not the same as JLPT guidelines. However, level IV should be a minimum requirement. Check the last few question papers to get an overview.
Sir, I am currently pursuing computer science honors from DU and I wish to pursue translational studies in German from JNU. I will finish my graduation in May 2022. I have prior knowledge of German up to B1 level (gave the exam in 2016). Will it be possible for me to apply for this particular course and entrance exam in 2022? Also is there scope in translational studies in the future?
Yes, you are eligible to take the entrance. But you need something like B2 or above to crack. Check the last few year’s QPs and prepare accordingly. Yes, it provides many job openings across industries.
Hi, sir my name is nakul I have done my ba from Delhi University in 2016 and I have done Spanish language course from institute cervantes till B1.3. Can I enroll in MA in Jnu?
You can appear for the JNU entrance test. However, you need skills similar to B2 to crack the entrance.
Respected Sir,
I really acknowledge the fact that you work so hard to clear the doubts of all the students. I read all the comments, but I am still in doubt. I am pursuing B.com Hons from BHU, and I am currently in 2nd year. I want to pursue MA in the Chinese language. It’s not possible since I haven’t done a BA in Chinese. So what should I do in order to get admission in MA Chinese language from JNU? If I get a 3-year diploma course from HanYoo language institute, will I be eligible for MA from JNU? Or should I repeat my graduation? Which will be the best option? I will be humbled if you solve my doubt.
Regards,
Prachi Joshi.
You don’t need BA in Chinese, but you do require skills similar to that to crack the highly competitive entrance test. And as per your situation, entrance is the only way to get admission to any Indian university.
I won’t recommend repeating the bachelor. So, you can study in any good language school, work hard, and prepare for the entrance in the next 2 years. Once you’re ready, you can apply for JNUEE and a few other universities like Doon University, CUJ, CUG, BHU, VBU, etc., offering MA in Chinese. Good luck Prachi. 🙂
Thank you so much, Sir. I will really work hard even if the possibility of getting admission in this course is zero. I will still try my luck. I will go for BHU, if not JNU as I am a BHU student. Thank you so much I was really tensed. Thank you for guiding me. 🙂
Regards,
Prachi Joshi

Without previous knowledge in Korean, it is not possible to crack the entrance. You can either do part-time Korean course at JMI or DU colleges or private institutes.
Hi sir, I am looking for a certificate course in Korean and would like to know when admissions for the same start at JNU. I did check JNU’s website but there’s not much information given there on how or when to apply even. Would appreciate your help.
JNU doesn’t offer part-time courses in Korean. However, you can consider DU colleges later this year.

I am pursuing my B.A. in eng and I want to learn Korean. What should I do? Please suggest.
Join one of the institutes for part-time Korean courses.

Can you please tell me about this. and what should I have to apply if I want to study in Korean (main sub).
Thank you.
You don’t need to worry about that. You can apply when forms will be available and appear for the entrance test. If you get admission, they will ask for the 12th mark sheets when CBSE will declare it.
Hello sir. I am Juhi Ghubade from Nagpur. I want to study Korean language BA 1st year. So, how can I apply for this? I didn’t apply for the 12th. Please help me, sir.

Yes, you can learn at any time. Probably, at any private institute.
Sir, should I prepare for all three clusters (for all the languages)? Or for only one cluster?
JNU no more conduct the exams as per cluster. It is common for all BA language program. You can check last year’s prospectus.
Sir, I wish to enquire. What will be the exam pattern for admission at JNU in MA French in 2022? Will the exams go back to offline mode? And if so, will the paper pattern be the same as the previous years?
Yes, it will be offline, and the pattern most likely will be the same as in 2020. You can check the previous year’s question and prospectus to get an overall idea.
Hi sir
I will be applying for ba hon in Spanish Lang. I have bought R Gupta book with the previous year sample paper. Is it enough to prepare with that book? Also secondary please let me know the topics to prepare And what all preferences I can fill in the application form after Spanish?
Thank you sir !!
Yes, the book will be helpful. There isn’t any specific topic. Just focus on generic English, GK, etc. You can try more books and check the last few year’s QP to get a broad overview. Pick Spanish as 1st option. Rest are all self-explanatory. There will be instructions on the NTA site on how to complete the form. Don’t worry!
Hello sir, I’m in 12th with science stream & after 12th I want to prepare for UPSC. Sir, I want to ask you that BA in a foreign language can help me for UPSC because I have heard that jnu is a good resource for UPSC aspirants.
JNU is indeed a great University for UPSC preparation, but BA in languages won’t make any difference. It is as good as any other program from the UPSC perspective.
Sir, I want to take the TOPIK exam in 2021. The official TOPIK site has JNU as the test center in Delhi. Can you tell me how one can register for the same, as I cannot find it on the JNU website?
The JNU center is not yet confirmed. Also, you have to apply through the Korean cultural center, Lajpat Nagar. You can get in touch with them. I’ve also updated this article for 2021 and will add more information as per the official announcement.
Hey sir
I currently study in class 12th and graduating after this 2021 board. So, I thought of taking Chinese lang but, for now, I have no touch of the Chinese language. I haven’t learned a single alphabet of it. So sir should I have to learn a basic Chinese language before applying it in jnu?
No. You don’t need previous Chinese knowledge. BA course will start from zero.
Sir, I want to ask about really important thing as I told you I’m preparing for getting admission in BA honours 1st year, but today I saw that the pattern has changed and I’ve to study about all languages not only a cluster. Is that true? Do I have to learn about all 10 languages or just the cluster according to my language selection? Sir, please tell me.
Yes, JNU no more conduct cluster wise exam. So, you have to focus on all. It was changed before 2020 JNUEE.
Okay, thank you so much for this information sir. 😊
Hello sir, I want to take Admission in JNU BA Spanish Honours 1st year. So sir, how should I fill the preference? Should I put Spanish in 2nd place since the French cut-off always goes high, or Should I put it in 1st place? Sir, please tell me this I just really want to take admission in BA Spanish honors In JNU.
Thank you
It would be best if you put it as per your preference. Since the French cut-off is usually higher, picking Spanish as 1st choice is better.
Hello Sir, Do I have to give a total of two exams for getting admission in BA honors Spanish, i.e., CBT and Entrance exam of Cluster: French, Spanish, Russian, German? And right now, I’m preparing for JNU next year BA honors 1st-year entrance examination, So sir, Have you any ideas about next year’s exam dates?
Based on last year’s guidance, there will be only one entrance test for bachelor’s programs.
I have done BBA, and Now I’m really interested in learning Japanese or Korean. Can I get admission to JNU for MA in Japanese? Do I have to give an entrance exam in Japanese or Korean language? If not, then what kind of exam? Because I haven’t learned anything about the Japanese language? Or which other colleges should I go to for MA Japanese?
It is not possible to get admission to MA in any foreign language without prior knowledge. The entrance test is compulsory and conducted in the same language you’re seeking admission. There are two options for you: Either try BA in Japanese/Korean. It may not be suitable for you as you have to repeat your UG. Instead, you can try one of the private institutes to achieve an advanced level.
I also have quite similar doubts. As in my case, I am in last year of my bachelor but now I want to learn Korean for my next studies. I was learning Korean language on my own. So Sir can you please tell me that where can I give the entrance exam and what are criteria. Do I need to focus more on to pass the exam?
You can also study Korean in one of the private institutes or the Korean cultural center at Lajpat Nagar. If your aim is universities, you can try entrance for JMI or DU Colleges like Daulat Ram and Ramjas. I wrote detailed articles on Korean courses in Delhi, as well as India. Check search or under the category of Asian languages.
How to take admission in MA INTEGRATED COURSE as I have applied for BA this year. If I will be selected at the entrance, then can I go for MA INTEGRATED? The course as I was not knowing about it earlier. Or there is any other method of taking enrollment in it?
There is no separate MA integrated course. It simply means, after completing Bachelors’s program, you can take direct admission to masters in the same language without appearing for the entrance test.
Sir, I am getting 62 marks in the general category. Is there any chance I could get admission in BA Chinese?
I’m not sure about that. JNU publishes the merit list and invites the candidates for admission.
Sir, I got selected for a B.A. in Spanish JNU. Can I get a direct admission (without giving entrance) for master’s in the same language?
Yes.
Sir, I am getting 56 marks in JNUEE 2020 BA Hons. in Korean. Will I qualify?
Check the merit list.
Sir, I have completed my BBA 2018. I have worked for 7 to 8 months and I was managing my family business. I am interested in. Cks (Korean language) program. Am I eligible for that? Can I apply for the entrance in jnu?
Yes. But I guess the number of seats is fewer who passed the 12th a few years back.
When the be the entrance exam for the upcoming academic year?
Maybe in March/April, but it depends on the situation and feasibility.
Sir, after clearing JNUEE, will I get admission in BA hons or integrated MA. Also, I have heard there is an entrance for BA 2nd and 3rd year in JNU as well. Will I be eligible to sit in those exams if I completed my first year of graduation from some other university?
Integrated MA is not a unique course, but just a combination of BA + MA in the same language. It means once you complete the bachelor program, you will get direct admission in MA without going through an entrance test. JNU is no longer conducting the exam for the lateral entry in 2nd year and 3rd year. BA 1st year is the only option.
But I read the admission policy circular of JNU. There is a mention of BA 2nd year admission.
I’m not aware of any such option. That use to be the case in 2018-19, not in 2020-21 as per the last prospectus as far as I remember.
Sir, do you have any idea how many students appeared for JNUEE this year for BA Hons?
Roughly between 15,000 to 20,000, but this is just my guess based on 2020 overall figures.
Can you please tell me if the written part (essay) was online or on paper? I want to give the exam next year but I am confused about the written part.
The National Testing Agency conducted JNUEE) in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode across India. For the sample practice papers, 2020 Question papers along with the answer keys are available on the website.
Sir, can I get admission in JNU for Korean language? I passed out of 12th in 2019. I am very interested in foreign language.
Yes, if you clear the 2021-2022 entrance test.
Sir, I’m a student of English Hons. Right now, I’m in my 3rd sem. I want to know that how can I get admission in JNU German language. What criteria do I need? Thanks, sir.
You can take the 2021 entrance test for BA in German. If you clear the entrance, you can take admission.
Sir, I have listened about a common entrance test for all the central universities like du, bhu, jnu, au, etc. Please guide me if there could be any change in the syllabus or exam pattern. I have to study a language course in jnu. Everything will be like last year or there could be any change plz guide.
JNU, DU, BHU, and many other old central Universities don’t come under CUCET (Central University common entrance test). All these universities conduct their own entrance. For 2021-22, CUCET offers BA in Chinese, Korean, and German through CUG, Gandhinagar, and CUJ, Ranchi. You can check their e-prospectus if you’re interested in these two colleges.
Can you suggest any institution for M.A. in German and Spanish (distance learning mode)? What could be the alternate for achieving same proficiency as in MA?
To my knowledge, there is no Educational institutions in India that offer MA in German/Spanish in the distance learning mode. Other than the regular Master’s programs in your target language, you can aim to achieve C1/C2 in DELE (Spanish) or Goethe-Zertifikat (German). Knowledge-wise, these are good enough for a vast majority of jobs, but still, these are diplomas and not PG degrees.
Sir I am right now in 2nd year of bcom prog as well as i am learning french from Alliance Francais. I want to do ma in french, so can i do ma from jnu?
Yes, but you have to crack the entrance test. After completing your graduation and DELF B2, you can take the entrance test.
Sir, I wanted to know how can Nepali students apply for a foreign language course in JNU. From which month season starts. What will be the facilities?
You can check → Admission procedure for foreign students. The admission process usually starts in Feb-March. JNU offers everything, including accommodation, at a very nominal price.
Hello Sir. I completed my Certificate, diploma, and advance diploma in Chinese from DU. Now I want to do an MA in Chinese from Jnu so do I have to study the 4th book (Elementary Chinese readers 4) for the entrance paper of MA or not? Means will I able to pass the MA exam without the 4th book? And if yes, then Is CF1 the only option to complete the 4th book because I can’t attend private institutes?
Thank you
I’m not sure since I don’t know Mandarin. You can check previous year questions to check your current ability in the Chinese language. But regardless of how you study, you should prepare really well since the total MA seats for outsiders are very few as admission is given directly to BA Chinese pass students of JNU.
Sir, I have 56% in my 12 class 2018 batch with PCM. Can I apply for ba in foreign languages in JNU? if I clear the entrance test, then will I be admitted to jnu with less grade in 12 class?
Yes.
How to apply for jnu foreign languages 2020? I am unable to find on the official website of JNU.
I guess you are asking about 2021? You can apply online in early 2021 when they start the admission process for academic session 2021-2022.
Sir, is there any age criteria for sitting for M.A. in Spanish from JNU? Or, one can opt for an M.A. of any age having a bachelor’s degree. Please clarify.
No. Bachelor in any stream is the only criteria. However, you need knowledge similar to Advanced Diploma / BA in French, or DELF B2 to crack the entrance.
Sir, I have selected my 1st field of study as Korean n 2nd field of study as French. So, If I cleared my entrance exam for jnu. Can I do my BA from French?
Yes, but it depends on the availability of seats and merit list.
Sir, I have filled the form of JNU, and my three preferences are French, Japanese, and Chinese, but I want to pursue Korean and unable to change it. So can I take Korean after getting admitted in 2020 because there is no cluster wise exam this year?
Looks difficult though I’m not sure about that.
Hello, I’ve been really interested in Chinese for years, and now I’m preparing for the JNU Entrance exam though I just want to know will the classes be on weekdays or weekends Or regular? I’ve searched through everything and couldn’t find a single trace of the timing of classes.
Both BA and MA in Chinese are a full-time regular course. The classes are held from Monday to Friday for 5-7 hours per day.
This has been really helpful as I was getting frustrated as to what to study for the Hebrew part-time course. I couldn’t find any question paper on that particular subject.
Hebrew was introduced in 2019 only. So that is why there is no previous question paper until 2018. For 2019, they are yet to update the page.
1. Sir, I scored very less in 12th boards (55%) in the Science stream, and now I want to change streams because I learned about my passion and talent in a foreign language. Can I get admission in a good college through entrance tests? I am a general category, and I’m from a middle-class family. So, I want to study in a govt. college.
2. Are colleges still open for admission? It doesn’t have to be JNU or DU just any govt. college in a metropolitan area.
3. I live in a foothill city of Darjeeling named Siliguri. So, can I get admission n Delhi or Mumbai (in this quarantine situation)?
Yes, you can appear for an entrance test, but the last date might be over for the 2020-2021 session. There are plenty of Colleges and Universities offering such programs. Choose the language, and apply accordingly as per dates and admission criteria. You can check → BA in Foreign Languages.
Can I pursue foreign languages no matter if I choose science/commerce/arts after my 10th?
Yes, you can.
Sir,
Which book (for reference and previous year question. paper) is best for the preparation of the JNU ba entrance examination 2020?
You can buy R Gupta’s Entrance exam Guide for the BA foreign language course on Flipkart or Amazon. You can also consider Arihant’s Previous Year’s solved paper, and other books especially meant for the BA entrance test. Plus, check the last 3 years question papers on the JNU website. Good luck!
Sir, can a trinity grade 8 certificate help in Japanese admissions in JNU since I am a general caste.
The entrance test is compulsory to get admission in JNU.
Sir, how should we prepare for 2021 jnuee (Japanese) since a detailed syllabus is not given in the prospectus.
That is the only syllabus provided by the JNU. You can also check the last few year’s question papers and some reference books for better preparation.
Sir, I have an interest in French and done b2 level and BCom. So, in masters, should I choose M.Com, MBA, or MA in French or English? Which has high scope?
While all have their pros and cons, but MBA + DALF C2 is an excellent combination and offers more career possibilities.
Hello sir, c1 level in French and master degree are equal, or we have to do master after c1?
No. Both aren’t the same. Usually, most people do a Masters after C1. While C1 is enough for a vast majority of jobs, but if you need a PG degree or wish to choose a career path like a Ph.D. in French, MA in French is a great choice.
Sir, can I study two languages at a time and also become a certified translator? I finished 12th (science), and I have no idea what to do next. Can you tell me about any university or online courses?
First, you have to pick which language you want to learn. Once decided, then you can choose courses and University as per your location, language, affordability, and feasibility. Of 100+ options, it is impossible to suggest a particular one. Perhaps, you can read more to come to some conclusion. Then, you can ask something specific.
Sir, can you please explain to me the syllabus for Spanish language? And the best way to prepare it?
I’m assuming you’re asking for BA in Spanish. Well, the syllabus is the same for all bachelor programs. It is mentioned in the prospectus and also in the comment section. You can buy a few books covering GK, English, etc., and start preparing for it. Also, check the last few year questions paper to get an overall idea.
I wish to be a multilingual translator and want to learn Chinese, Japanese, and German. I’ve learned Japanese from online resources and I can speak Japanese like a child. I just don’t know how to read and write difficult words. So, I wish to learn German as my main language and learn Japanese sideways. Is it not possible to study that way?
Possible provided that you put lots of effort and consistent practice for a long time.
In jnu website, it is written a course that Ph.D. in Japanese and Korean. If I take this course then do I have to study both or only one?
No. Ph.D. in Korean and Ph.D. in Japanese are two separate courses. For example, once you complete an MA in Japanese and fulfill other criteria, you can apply for the entrance test for Ph.D. in Japanese.
Please give me advice on some courses and degrees I can do after doing ma Japanese, to get job in Japan or any other like UK/ us, etc. I have selected math in 11th class.
There is no specific course for overseas jobs. It is better to focus on current education, and not about the choices after 7 long years.
Sir, after the certificate and diploma, can I take an MA in the Russian entrance exam? Or for Masters in Russian, I need to graduate in Russian? Please reply sir.
For a Masters in Russian, you need graduation in any stream and Russian knowledge equivalent to BA or advanced Diploma in Russian.
Sir, I’m 12th class pass out student. I want to learn the Korean language, but I could not fill the form this year. Can I still get admission??
No. Also, admission is based on the entrance test. You can either try some private institutes or DU colleges.
If I do ba honors and MA in Japanese then how much chances become for me to a job in Japan. Is it hard to find job in Japan or it’s will become very easy if I do ma in Japanese? What is the minimum salary I can get if I become a Japanese translator?
Since everyone speaks Japanese in Japan, getting a job there solely based on language ability is difficult. You need other in-demand qualifications and relevant experience. There is no minimum or maximum salary, it depends on the job profile and many other factors.
Sir, what is the age limit of these courses. Can I take this course at age 22? If not, then is there any way that I can do this course while completing my engineering IIT course because I have an interest in both engineering and foreign language.
There is no maximum age-limit at JNU for any course. Since most JNU courses are full-time, thus, you cannot pursue two regular programs simultaneously. Perhaps you can try some private institutes for part-time language courses.
Sir, what is the syllabus of jnu ma linguistics and plz can you tell me is there any placement in ma linguistics? Can you plz recommend me some future plans after pursuing ma linguistics.
I don’t track JNU’s centre of linguistics. So, difficult to say.
Sir, what’s the difference between jnu ba course and du part-time courses (certificate diploma, etc.)?
The full-time means 4-6 hours of classes daily, whereas part-time is usually 2-6 hours per week.
Sir, would you plz send the link for the entrance exam of the Spanish language.
The link is mentioned at the bottom of this article.
Sir as I haven’t qualified for any foreign language course so, I am a beginner and want to take admission from JNU. That’s why I want to know is there certificate courses for foreign languages? And when can I apply for the entrance exam?
JNU does not conduct certificate courses in any popular languages. You can try some private institutes or DU.
Sir,

No. It is a full-time regular program.
Sir, I am interested in Japanese and Spanish B.A course is it possible to take both? And any details for the 2021 entrance exam?
No. You can only choose one full-time course. JNU is yet to announce the entrance test date.
Sir, but we have to choose 2 languages for BA, right?
No. You can do a degree course in only one language.
Hello Sir. My friend applied for JNUEE 2020. He gave his choices as Chinese (Main), German and French. As you know, Chinese belong to the 2nd cluster and the rest to 1st. So, does he has to attempt both the clusters or just for the languages he opted for? He wanted to know if he had to study every country present in both the cluster because then he will have to study more. Can you please tell me how the questions will arrive at the entrance exam and what to prepare for?
In 2020-21 prospectus, JNU has removed the cluster-based exam. There will be a standard test for all languages. It means GK will be general and not limited to a particular country/region. This is my guess!
Hello Sir, is the entrance for MA in Spanish is through CBT i.e, multiple-choice questions or subjective patterns, this year?
MCQ.
Sir, I am currently doing BA HISTORY HONS from du, and I m in 2nd year. I find much interest in history, but it is tough for the career prospects and to get a govt job in India with the subject like history. Would it be beneficial if I also start learning any foreign languages along with history? Please guide, sir, thanks.
Foreign language will be advantageous, but as per the current job market, you will find limited opportunities that combine History and Language.
Thank you Sir for the detailed information. I have pursued MBA from Pune University and I have passed JLPT N1. I want to further make a career in Japanese Language (research and teaching). I want to confirm if there is an entrance examination for MA in Japanese in JNU. Also, since I have already pursued masters, will I be ineligible for the M.A course?
Yes, the admission for MA in Japanese is through an entrance exam. No, you are eligible to apply. You can repeat the master’s program if you want.
Sir, I want to prepare for MA French entrance exam JNU. Can you please advise a few books to prepare well for the exam? Also, I have completed my B1 from AFD. Is it sufficient to enroll in an MA in French?
B1 may not be sufficient to clear entrance. You need at least B2. The exam will be conducted in French, and questions will cover French language, literature, history, culture, and civilization of Francophone countries. Also, linguistics, translation, and didactics of teaching a foreign language are some of the syllabus’s areas. I’m not aware of any book. You can check the previous year question paper to get an overall picture.
Give me some idea for preparing for the jnuee in foreign language. Because the syllabus has changed. Tell me about some books for preparation.
You can follow the syllabus mentioned in the JNU prospectus 2020-21. The questions will be in MCQ format and will comprise GK, artificial language, language aptitude, and General English. You can read about various countries, where the important language originated. Wikipedia is one source. Besides, study the intermediate English grammar (IX to XII), and questions related to logical reasoning. You can also try this book — LINK

Sir, I passed the Bihar 12th Board with 75%. I want to take admission in JNU. What I have to do to make career in Chinese? And Is the Chinese language good for the future?

Sir,
Due to lockdown, I am unable to apply for the BA Foreign language course. Can JNU extend the last date 31 March to 15 days more? Please reply soon.
You can apply online — LINK. I’m not sure whether JNU will extend the date or not since applications are invited through online mode only.
Hello sir,
Are we supposed to study the GK of all 10 languages for BA paper this year? As the prospectus says that there will be a combined paper for all.
Yes, it seems they have removed the cluster concept, which is actually good. There will be a common test for all languages. It means GK will be generic, and not restricted to a particular country/region. This is my guess!
Sir, please tell me the new syllabus for ba in Japanese. I am really confused in the above article. Will there be any reasoning or math? Please reply sir.
The syllabus is the same as last year. You can check on page 141 of the prospectus.
I’m going to clear my 12th commerce exam, and I’m interested in learning the Japanese language. What should I do?
BA in Japanese is one such option. Graduation in the stream of your choice, along with a part-time Japanese course at any private institute, is another alternative.
We have to select 3 languages while selecting languages. Does this mean that I have to study all three languages?
You don’t need to learn the language. You have to study the history, culture, civilization, current affairs, etc. of the country where the language originated.
Sir, I have selected 3 languages for entrance. Do I have to prepare for all 3 language’s history and culture or just the first preference?
All 3.
Just the 3 which I chose. Or all 10 languages? As I was told by a JNU student that from this year we have to prepare for all 10 languages in order to get admission in one language. I am very confused.
You don’t need to have prior knowledge of the language for the bachelor’s program.
Sir, I have completed a diploma from DU in German and want to continue it from a private institute. On the other hand, I also want to apply for BA Hons Spanish from JNU. Can I apply? Is this the right decision or not? Like, am I able to manage both the languages?
You can surely apply for BA in Spanish. Maybe you can join Max Mueller to continue your German. Managing two languages at the same time is not a difficult task. Whether it is the right decision or not, well, only you can decide. It is quite subjective and depends on your goals and interest.
Sir, I want to know that BA in Japanese or Korean language entrance test will be conducted in English or Japanese and Korean language?
English.
Sir, I am currently studying the Japanese language from the private institute, and I am appearing for N5 in July. Am I eligible for applying for the certificate/diploma course?
JNU does not conduct a Certificate/Diploma in Japanese. Besides, you don’t need to pursue these courses when you are already studying at any private institute with an aim to clear JLPT. After passing N5, you can continue till N2/N1.
Sir, I want to do masters in the Japanese language in JNU. What should I do and how should I start my preparation?
Have you completed a BA in Japanese, or do you possess Japanese proficiency similar to bachelor in Japanese? If yes, you can check the last 3 years question paper and syllabus from the prospectus and start preparing. Links to all these is at the bottom of the article.

Sir, Can I learn the Chinese language in JNU college with full time? I really want to learn Chinese and I know the basics and both writing and reading a little bit.
Yes, you can give the entrance for a full-time BA in Chinese. However, if you just want to learn Mandarin, you can enroll in one of the Chinese institutes in Delhi.
Sir, please can you give me some guidelines related to the entrance for JNU BA (hon) in Chinese to get a good certificate or degree. Thank you ?
To get admission in BA in Chinese, you have to appear for an entrance test to be conducted in 2-3 months. The exam syllabus is there in the previous year’s e-prospectus. The NTA will announce the JNU entrance exam details for the session 2020-21 in the 1st week of March.
Sir, I want to apply for the Korean language, but I am unable to find the online admission form on the website. How to get that? Please help.
That is because the admission procedure has not yet started. It will begin in March.
Sir, I have appeared in my 12 exams, and now I want to do a language course. So, would you like to suggest to me which language I should learn and please tell me the procedure also?

Hello sir! I want to take admission in B.A hons foreign language. So how should I prepare for the entrance? What are the chances of getting admission in JNU?
you can check the syllabus, and start preparing. It is challenging to crack the JNU entrance test due to fewer seats. You can check other Universities with a BA in foreign languages.
Hi Vikash,
I am a working professional and work in the administration department. I would like to change my field and want to learn mandarin language from the good institute, but at the same time, I cannot leave my job. JNU doesn’t offer part-time or weekend classes for mandarin. Can you suggest what I can do? I’m looking forward to your reply.
You can join any private institutes like HanYou or MeiYu offering a part-time Chinee course.
Is there an entrance exam for direct admission in B.A French 2nd year?
No. JNU is no more offering lateral entry to 2nd year.
Hello sir, I have done my advanced diploma in French from DU, and I have my B2 level certification from alliance française de Delhi. I want to appear for the MA entrance exam, but I have been told that there are only 3-4 seats for general category students, which is bothering me. What is the difficulty level for the MA french entrance exam and how should I study and what books can you suggest me to learn better. Please help me.
The number of seats indeed is few (Usually 3 to 7 for MA in French). It is quite a challenge to pass the entrance test. However, your B2 level can still help you. You can check the last 4-year question papers on the JNU website. (Link is there in this article), and start preparing for it. Good Luck Anjali!
Thank you
I would like to know if there is any Certificate course in French in JNU and the procedure of admission?
No. JNU does not offer any short-term courses like Certificate in French. Only full-time degree programs are available.

B1 may not be enough. Consider at least B2. You can check the last 4-year question paper on the website and start preparing for that. You need to have a good knowledge of history, culture, and civilization of Spain, and Central and South America.

After Ph.D. one can become assistant professor and starting salary is normally between 6 to 8 Lakhs per annum. Additionally, It usually takes 10 years to complete Ph.D. (mostly in the same subject). Most people (at least whom i know) did for research and adding new contribution to knowledge in their subject. Making money is not the primary goal nor Ph.D. guarantee a good salary. After Ph.D., one can only become assistant professor. Only few become professor that also after 15-30 years of impeccable experience.

The entrance exam will be held in May. The exact dates will be announced shortly. You can try any book that covers the JNU entrance syllabus and previous year question paper. JNU might make some changes since exam format will change to MCQ from this year.
Sir i have graduated from du in bcom regular and now i want to make my career in french in travel and tourism. So sir what should i do? A part time certificate in french will be enough or i should do it from du or ignou?
If you want to learn French properly in order to utilize in your career, it will take at least 2-3 years. The certificate course is not worth it from a job perspective. You can try 3-year Advanced Diploma from any affiliated DU college. IGNOU or JNU does not offer any such course.
Sir if a student is choosing two languages from different clusters is he/she has to appear for two exams?
No. There will be only one common test. The exam format might change a little from this year. Wait for the 2019-2020 eProspectus!
Hello respected sir, i wanted to ask that are there any options for turkish language. İ want to study turkish from jnu as i saw that turkish as an optional language is available there. But will there be any degree given in turkish. And what about the mevlana or other scholarships that turkey offers to students studying turkish?
No JNU does not offer any Turkish courses. Jamia is the only University in India that offers degree level courses in Turkish. JMI runs both a 3-year part-time Advanced Diploma as well as BA (Hons.) in Turkish.
Hi Sir. I am appearing 12th exam at the moment, and after that I want to study Japanese language in JNU. I don’t quite understand the syllabus regarding the foreign language subject. So, if you would kindly briefly explain it here, I’d appreciate it. And also, is the application form not out yet, Sir?
Thank you.
The online registration process for 2019-20 Entrance will begin from March 15. This time, the exam format will be MCQ. The JNU entrance syllabus for last year included GK, artificial language, short essays on issues related to the subject, knowledge about countries as per cluster (Japan, China, Korea for BA in Japanese). You can check the e-prospectus and syllabus from tomorrow.
If the questions will be MCQ this time, then the essay won’t be ask, Sir?
No. You can find the syllabus for the entrance test on page 153-155 of e-prospectus.
Hello Sir, Which is better place to learn Japanese in New Delhi DU/JNU or MOSAI?
The 5-year Integrated BA and MA in JNU is the ultimate choice. DU offers a variety of Japanese courses. Some are good, some are average. MOSAI’s 3 year (JLPT N2) is definitely good though fees is on the higher side. I can suggest you something specific if you tell me your academic qualification and what you’re pursuing.
Hello Sir,
I have graduated from csjmu in bsc regular in 2018. Right now i’m pursuing web development course. And Now want to make my career into Japanese language. But confused in selecting a good platform between JNU/MOSAI/DU (Arts Faculty)
I already replied to you. You can try for 5 year (BA and MA) from JNU. If you do not manage to get through the JNU entrance, go with 3-year part-time course from MOSAI. Third option is 3-year part-time Advanced Diploma from Daulat Ram or Ramjas College or 2-year full-time PG Advanced Diploma in Japanese from DU’s Arts faculty.
hello sir.
When is the registration starting for BA Honours in french in JNU?
The application form for all language courses will be issued soon, maybe in february only. Whenever it will be released, it will be updated here. Bookmark this page 🙂
thankyou so much sir .
sir, i am in last year b.com by sol. I wanna to learn German. Should i do BA or possible to do since i am in commerce field. Sir, i have so many quarries regarding the course.
Only BA in German is possible for you. You can try for the entrance exam to be conducted in May. If you’re selected, you can drop B.Com since Major from JNU is much more worth.

Sir, I am 1st year DU student with part time Japanese course from DRC. I have keen interest in learning japanese and want to get foreign language as a career. Because of lack of information i couldn’t got know about JNU. So what should I do? Complete my diploma or try to get admission in JNU? Please help me sir
Since you are in 1st year, it is better to try for JNU. The BA Entrance exam will be held in May. Getting admission to MA in Japanese is quite difficult due to limited number of seats and requirement of higher proficiency in Japanese.
Sir i am preparing for JNU cee. I want to know that while preparing for the test what should i focus more on, the language part or the other part? And if it’s the language part what to study for the particular language? Its history, facts, or other things? Please guide sir.
Unfortunately, there is no guideline about that. You can cover GK, English and information (current and history) regarding the country concerned as per your choice of cluster. JNU is yet to publish the prospectus for 2019 entrance test. Additionally, this time test will be MCQ. Thus, concentrate more on facts and points rather essay writing skills.
sir, i have completed 12 and i want to do german and french language course. When ur entrance exam form will released. Sir please give me information about your entrance exam for German and French language course
Choose one since you cannot do both the languages at the same time. JNU offers 5 year Integrated BA + MA in French or German. When the JNU forms will be released, it will updated here. All the information are there in this article.

Sir I am currently doing BA second year from Sol DU but I want to do foreign Language course from JNU So can I register in 2019 can I do both at the same time?
Getting admission in JNU is not that easy. Admission is through entrance exam. If you clear the entrance, continue with JNU only since it won’t be possible to continue BA from SOL.
Sir I am complete my graduation from sol DU. How to take admission in Spanish. My English is weak. Please reply me.
There is only one possibility for you ie. BA in Spanish. Admission is through the entrance exam which will be held in May. You can apply only when the application form will be available. You can also try any reputed Spanish Institute in Delhi.
Hello sir, I want to do language course in jnu so what is the process of admission?
JNU only offers degree level BA, MA, etc. courses in various language through entrance exam. From 2019 onward, Admission will be done through Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) based test. The entrance exam will take place in May, 2019 and application forms will be available in early 2019.
Hello Sir, i did BA Hons. In Spanish from JNU in 2000. However i dropped out and did not continue MA. I would now like to pursue my studies further. Could you please advise what could be the possible course of action in this regard. many thanks!
18 years is a long time. I’m not sure whether you are as good in Spanish as you were at the end of BA 3rd year in 2000. If your Spanish is good enough, you can try for an MA in Spanish by preparing for an entrance test. If not (most likely situation), then study on own or join any reputed institute with an aim to compete for DELE C1. From the career prospects, C1 is as good as MA (in most cases). Read – DELE Exam in India
Sir, What is the admission process for language courses in JNU?

Hello Sir,
I completed my graduation with PCM in 2018 and interested in learning Japanese Language. But confused in selecting a good university. Should i go for DU or JNU? and Is learning Japanese a good choice for better future?
Since MA is not possible due to a lack of prior knowledge in Japanese. Thus, you have 4 options. (i) BA from JNU. (Entrance exam will be held in May 2019) (ii) 3 Year part-time course from any DU College. Admission will start in June 2019. (iii) 2 Year PG course from DU (Arts faculty and Admission is through entrance exam to be held in June. (iv) Course from any reputed Japanese institute with an aim to complete JLPT N2 in 3 years. Yes, Japanese is good for a career.
Sir, I am a final year Bsc Physics student from Kerala. I wish to switch on to Persian studies. I have an average proficiency in Urdu language. Can you please guide me.
You don’t need fluency in URDU to pursue Persian Courses. As per your situation, there is only one possibility — BA in Persian since MA is not possible without prior knowledge in Persian. Repeating graduation may not be the right thing to do. If you’re keen to study Persian, you can study from anywhere. There are plenty of options.
Sir,I recently checked JNU’s official website and they say that the minimum age limit for BA hons. in foreign language is 17 years old. the thing is i am 16 years old can i give the entrance exam?

My Name is Nitish. Sir i want to learn Russian language from “JNU”. And i have already completed my Graduation from University of Delhi B.A(Hons) English. So, Sir please let me know that what should i do to learn this language in “JNU”. I will be very thankful to you.
BA (H) in Russian is the only option for you if you’re ok in repeating the bachelor program. JNU does not offer any part-time or short-term courses in any language and MA in Russian is not possible since knowledge equivalent to BA / Advanced Diploma in Russian is mandatory to pass the entrance exam.
Try RCSC in Delhi. They offer short-term courses in Russian.

For MA in Chinese from JNU, you need bachelor degree and knowledge equivalent to advanced diploma since admission is through entrance exam. So, Yes Advanced Diploma in Chinese from DU is fine.
Sir recently i pass out my 12…i want to learn spanish so plz suggest me which is the best course for learning spanish.
There is no best course. Spanish course will depend on location, duration, affordability, and kind, of course, you want to pursue! If you’re already doing a bachelor program, then try some short-course. I can suggest a few options if I know where you want to study.
Sir, I’m learning Spanish from bhartiya Vidya bhawan and I think the language department of bvb affiliated from jnu. I just want to know I have completed 2 semester and pursuing 3rd and I want to get admission in jnu so what can I do to get admission?
No. BVB has no affiliation to JNU. MA in Spanish is not possible for you. Once you complete 6 semester in Spanish and graduation, then possible. Try either BA (1st year) or BA (2nd Year) in Spanish.
Yes sir I know MA in Spanish is not possible but I wanna apply for BA(1year). so is that possible now?
Yes. Prepare to crack the entrance exam in December. Prior knowledge in Spanish is not required.
Hello sir,
I’m very confused like what to do to make a good career. I did Bachelor in English literature (DU) and correspondence MBA in Marketing (Amity university). Someone told me you will get best packages if I’ll do some other foreign language. I want to go for Japanese language, sir please tell me is it worth for me to go for BA again.
Career Opportunities and good packages are possible if you reach a high level of proficiency. Repeating BA is not a good idea though JNU is an excellent choice for BA in Japanese. You can join any Japanese institute in Delhi and try to complete JLPT N2 in the next 3 years! Read — JLPT Examination
Hello Sir, my name is Azhar. I have done b.tech (2012). I am interested to learn Spanish. Am i eligible to give an entrance exam?
Yes, you are eligible. MA is not possible since high proficiency in Spanish is compulsory. You can try for BA. Another option is to enroll for short-term courses in any good Institute.
Hello sir, I want to do MA in French from JNU, I have diploma in French from St. Stephens (DU) and also have the knowledge of Advance diploma but due to some personal reason I didn’t clear advance diploma exam. So I want to know am I eligible for Masters or is it compulsory to have certificate in advance diploma. Please let me know.
For MA in French, Only eligibility criteria is bachelor degree. You don’t need advanced diploma or even certificate in French. However, Knowledge of French equivalent to Advanced Diploma or DELF B2 is compulsory to clear the entrance exam. You can check syllabus and last few years question papers to judge yourself.
Sir i m from bihar nd i m pursuing graduation 2nd year from here sir i wanna do a course in any foreign language where i got better scope in future. what is the procedure. Kindly give me information about that.
All languages are important though Top 5, namely French, Spanish, German, Japanese, and Mandarin offer better career opportunities. You can apply for BA 1st-year entrance exam. For 2nd year entrance, Prior knowledge in the corresponding language is required. It will difficult to achieve that level of proficiency in 3-4 months. Syllabus, Dates, Admission procedure are mentioned in this article.
I have completed my BA and MA in linguistics from University of Dhaka and Diploma in french from Institute of modern languages from the same university. I want to further study french in JNU. Please tell me what to do and from where should I start?
Salut Sabrina! What is your Nationality and Where are you currently residing? I guess you are not Indian. JNU Offers BA, MA, and M.Phil/Ph.D in French. I checked Dhaka University and 1 year Diploma in French is not enough to clear the entrance for MA in French. BA won’t be the right thing to do and you might not be eligible for Ph.D. in French. If your French is good, You can still try MA in French (depends on your French knowledge).
If you are in India, you can apply online like anyone else otherwise there is also an option to apply from outside India (In that case, you’ve to select “in absentia” category for which separate application form is available). Admission procedure is going to start in two weeks. If you want to pursue French or any other course from India, there are several good options. You can mail me if any query. I’ll be glad to help you. Bonne Chance!
Merci beaucoup Monsieur ! I live in Dhaka. MA in French will be difficult for me. To be honest, I have completed my B1 in French, and my pronunciation is quite good, but I still have lacking in fluent speaking and listening. So If it possible I want to start from BA 2nd year. And here to mention I have a linguistics major. I really look forward to hearing from you about the procedures.
You’re truly a linguaphile. 🙂 Of course, you can apply for BA (Hons) 2nd Year in French. You can check the syllabus for 2nd year through links mentioned in this article. Also Read carefully the Admission Procedure for International Students (IS)
Forms will be available from 15th September. You can apply online. Since no. of seats for BA 2nd year is very few. Thus, you need to prepare quite well. Let me know if any queries.
Hello,
I wanted to ask what kind of degree one gets after getting into and completion of B.A(H) 2nd yr for any foreign language. Is it like a normal 3 year degree or there is a different one for someone who has applied for the 2nd year one.
After 3 years, You will get BA (Hons.) in the corresponding language irrespective of whether you took the admission in 1st or 2nd year. Only those who completed 1st year can take admission in 2nd year (provided that entrance exam is cleared).
sir, i am doing CP2 i.e. 2nd year in Chinese from Delhi university (part time) and i want to take admission in JNU for my further studies in chinese. which course should i apply for?
I guess you just started Diploma in Chinese. If you’ve already completed or pursuing 1st year bachelor degree, then BA (H) in Chinese 2nd Year entrance exam. Mind you, you have to really work hard on Mandarin not because question paper will be difficult but due to limited seats (5-10). BA (1st year) if you are either not doing graduation or not a graduate.
Sir I am learning Arabic (cop) level from school of foreign languages this year. Can I take BA 2nd year exam or should I take BA 1st year entrance exam held in 2018 December?
Check the eligibility criteria and question pattern for both. If you are already doing a bachelor’s degree and Arabic is good enough, then you should try for 2nd-year entrance otherwise 1st year. Both exam are totally different. Check Previous year question papers and syllabus to get an idea.
I’m doing b.com 1st year and CMA can I get admission in language course of Spanish? Thankfully. kindly update plz
Interested in BA? 2nd year is not possible since entrance paper will be in Spanish and 4 months is not enough to reach that level. You can apply for BA in Spanish (1st year). Apply and prepare. All details are there in this article.
Does there any criteria in jnu that if one student can not qualify in the 2nd year entrance examination in foreign language can get a chance to direct admission in 1st year?
No. There is no such provision. Both exams are different.
What is the minimum marks needed to qualify the 2nd year entrance exam in japanese language to study in jnu??
There is no minimum marks. The seat allotment will be purely based on candidate’s rank. Since number of seats are very less (single digit), Thus expect high cut-off.
How many seats are there sir?
That depends on the number of seats vacant in specific courses in 2nd year. Generally it is 10%-20%. So, maybe 5-8. Just a guess!
Sir, I have completed my BA graduation, I have knowledge in Spanish language. I want to give the entrance exam for BA 2nd Yr in Spanish. Kindly guide me with the following process.
As per the last 3 years of Question papers, my suggestion would be to concentrate on grammar, vocabulary, and paragraph writing. Invest in a few good books, take help from any Spanish teacher (if required) and practice 3-4 hours daily. You have enough time i.e. 4 months. The question paper was equivalent to what we generally see the Advanced Diploma exam. You can apply online from 15th September.
Sir, this is Sandhya from AP. Pls tell me are providing diploma certified course in Hebrew language ?
JNU doesn’t offer Diploma in Hebrew. However, Given India’s growing ties with Israel and high demand, last year JNU announced to start certificate and diploma courses in Hebrew. I will update if there is any news regarding that.
sir i am b.com 3rd year student and get passed out in 2019. so i want to take admission in any of the one year language programme in jnu. please guide me further i will be thankful to you.
JNU offers a One-year Certificate of Proficiency (COP) only in not so popular languages like Bahasa, Mongolian, and Pashto. If you’re interested in any of these 3 languages, you can apply when forms will be available. If your choice of languages is different, then you can either try private institutes or any other University next year.
Sir I am handicap how many seat are reserved in jnu for Japanese language.
3% seats are reserved for Person with Disability. Thus, 1 out of 38 seats are reserved for PWD for BA (Hons.) in Japanese.
Sir I’m from Rajasthan. I am doing B.Com 3rd year in Maharaja Ganga Singh University. Can I take admission in MA In Chinese language.
No. Admission is through entrance test and to pass the exam, Knowledge equivalent to Advanced Chinese is required. It will take 2-3 years to reach that level of proficiency in Chinese.
Sir, I want to do certificate course of French language. I am graduated from du this year. so please give me necessary information about this course
JNU does not offer Certificate courses. Since the last date is over for Jamia and DU. Thus, you can try a few private institutes.
Hi Sir, I have completed BA this year and i want to take Korean language. Is it possible for me to give the entrance? I also want to know if any Student exchange programme for language and also when is the entrance for 2019 batch?
You can give the the entrance test for BA (H) in Korean. Since you have already completed BA, it may not be wise to repeat bachelor degree again. MA in Korean is not possible for you since Knowledge equivalent to Advanced Diploma or TOPIK Level 4/5 is required to clear entrance exam. JNU do offer some student exchange programme during the course. Entrance exam will be held in December and forms will be available from next month.
Sir since i’m thinking to give the entrance for korean language BA(H) 1st year. can you please give me some suggestions as to which topic i should stick more or concentrate on.
For BA (Hons.) in Chinese, Korean, and Japanese, There is a common written test. The syllabus is G.K., artificial language, short essays on issues related to the subject, etc. You can check the last 3 years question papers. The link is mentioned in this post.
Hello sir right now I’m doing MA 2nd year from IGNOU, I want to learn Korean. So can I apply for MA in korean language direct is it possible or I have to do BA.
While you can apply for an MA in Korean. However, to clear the entrance test – Knowledge equivalent to Advanced Diploma or TOPIK Level 4/5. This may not be possible for you. Don’t try for BA(H) since you have already completed a BA. Try a few private institutes or Short-term courses from DU or Jamia next year. Read – Korean Courses in Delhi.
Hello sir, I also want to do an MA in Korea. Is there any entrance test required? Because I can read and write Korean.
Yes, there is an entrance test, and it is quite challenging to pass as the number of seats are in a single digit. For MA entrance, You need knowledge equivalent to BA in Korean or TOPIK level 4th/5th. While you can learn Hangul and able to read 100’s of words in a few weeks but to clear the 4th/5th level, it might take three years!
I did French certificate this year from SGTB KHALSA DU. Can you tell me how many Colleges are offering Diploma and can i take admission in session 2018-2019 in any DU colleges? Please Help.
There are several Colleges affiliated with Delhi University with a Diploma program in French. However, the last date is over for 2018-2019. You can wait for next year or try any private institute. Check the list of Colleges & admission procedure at French Language Courses in DU.
Sir, special book which will help me
No special book. Buy few from online store and start practicing including previous year question papers.
Sir, My son has been studying in Chinese honours in Banaras Hindu University in the 2nd year. He wants to admit in JNU in same Class. Is it possible?
No. As far as i know, there is no provision to transfer from one university to another. The only possibility is to give entrance exam for 2nd year BA (Hons.) Chinese in December this year. If his Chinese is good, he can try. However, he has to repeat 2nd year again starting from July 2019.
Hello sir.
I cleared my B.sc in physics with 71% and want to take admission in jnu for studying foreign language course. so what have i to do for this? When to apply?
Barring a few not so popular languages, JNU does not offer any part-time language courses. For MA entrance, Knowledge equivalent to Advanced Diploma or B2/N2/HSK V/ etc. is compulsory. So BA (Hons.) is the only option. Repeating the graduation degree course may not be the right thing to do. Think over it. Application form will be available next month. If you want to learn any language – There are many options in Delhi and other cities.
So after completing BA (Hons), can’t we apply for a certificate course and then a PG diploma in a foreign language in JNU?
JNU does not offer any Certificate or PG Diploma. For MA, a high proficiency in the same language is required. Generally, it takes 3 years to reach such level.

Sir please let us know some good and reliable source to prepare for jnu 1st year exam in foreign language after 12th. Is it possible to take all three languages from same cluster itself. Is it possible to take all three languages from all three different clusters respectively.
I’m not sure about any private institutes for JNU entrance preparation. You can contact few in nearby areas. You can either opt for three languages from two clusters or all three languages from one cluster. Three languages from three clusters is not possible as per the last information.

Yes. Admission in MA in Spanish is through entrance test and Minimum eligibility criteria is graduation in any stream. However, Proficiency in Spanish (equivalent to Advanced Diploma or DELE B2) is required to clear entrance test (not certificate but knowledge). You can try in future once your Spanish will be good enough.
Sir I am doing graduation from DU – SOL (Bcom hons) and I want to do language course from jnu. Pls give me the details.
You’re interested in which course and language? Admission procedure will start in September. I will update all the information in advance.
Sir i have passed my graduation exam this year with english and geography but i want to do foreign languages course then what can i do? MA in foreign languages or BA.or diploma course…
Do you want to study at JNU? The University does not offer any part-time courses in most languages. Since you have already completed graduation, BA is not advisable. For MA, you need knowledge equivalent to B2/Advanced Diploma which I guess is not possible. You can try a few private institutes for short-term professional courses. Is there any book which provides the guidance to qualify in jnu 2nd year entrance examination of Japanese language?
Not that i’m aware of. It would be better to join any Japanese institute. It would be difficult to learn Intermediate level Japanese without any teacher.

I want to know top universities offering foreign language course other than jnu and du….and also this year when will the admissions or entrance forms will start of the same at jnu and du
Other than DU and JNU, There are several Universities like Jamia, EFLU, Mumbai University, Pune University, IGNOU, Kolkata University, just to name a few. However, it will be difficult to get admission this year as the admission process ends by May-July & Classes starts in August. Try next year.
Sir, This year I completed my 12th. Now I want to do foreign language from French. When the application forms will come?
For Session 2019 onwards, JNU admission form will be released in September 2018.
when the entrance exams will held?
Entrance exam is going to be conducted in December or January. I will update all the details in advance.
I completed my 12th this year but I got to know about the foreign language course later and the registration dates of many colleges have over so can I apply this next year means, Is there any age limit?
And are there some DU colleges who provides admissions in language course on entrance basis? If there are so please tell me all colleges name.
There is no age limit and you can apply in September for session 2019 onwards. Most DU Colleges’ admission is based on cut-off and in some cases direct admission if less no. of applicants. JNU Courses and admission procedure are totally different from DU – Foreign Language Courses in Delhi University
There are only that much seats available in JNU or these seats are just only for 2018 because there are so less seats…
No. of seats for B.A. (Hons.) 1st year (As of May, 2018): French – 38, German – 38, Russian – 54, Spanish – 31, Japanese – 38, Korean – 35, Chinese – 45, Persian – 31, Pushto – 15, and Arabic – 31
Unfortunately, JNU or most of the top-ranked university have limited intake and that includes 50% reservation quota. For past several years, number of seats are more or less same. If you want to study at JNU, you need to prepare quite well for entrance exam. Don’t worry JNU is not the only option to learn foreign languages. I made my career in the field of Foreign Languages without studying at JNU or any top-ranked University. At the end, Knowledge and Experience matters!
Can I do french language course from JNU if I’m doing English hons from du right now. I’ve just completed 10+2 and taken admission in du for english hons. Can I do french course too along side?
JNU does not offer any part-time French course. Studying a two-degree level regular course is not possible even though UGC has given the go-ahead a few years back. Admission in BA (Hons.) is through all India entrance exam and admission dates are over for 2018.
If you’re interested in pursuing short-term French courses, you can try few DU Colleges (if the last date is not over) or any Private institute like Alliance Française de Delhi.
I am graduated in F&LA from NiFT in year 2011, right now I am 28 years old and want to learn french. Is there any age limit to take the course, if not them how to apply for the course and what is a fee structure.
Which course are you looking for? JNU doesn’t offer any short-term French course. Admission in MA is through entrance exam and knowledge of Advanced French is compulsory. There is no age limit for any master degree. If you’re looking for some professional French courses, then there are number of options with no age limit. At what location you want to study?
Sir i just passed my 10 + 2 i want to apply for french courses in jnu please tell me what to do and from where

Yes but Why you want to pursue graduation again ? You can study Japanese from any private institute or Japanese embassy affiliated centre and prepare for JLPT (Japanese language proficiency Test).

JNU offers a part-time Certificate in Pashto, Mongolian, Bahasa Indonesia, and Urdu. 10+2 is required and you can contact the JNU admission department. Hi sir
I have A2 level certificate from Goethe institute, but I haven’t done bachelors (first year) in any subject. Am I eligible for JNU 2nd year lateral entry in a foreign language? If not, what’s an alternative to appear for it next year?
For lateral entry in 2nd year, you need to have completed 1st year from any College. Besides, JNU did not offer admission directly to the 2nd year in 2019-2020 session. Most likely, you have to try for 1st year BA in German.
I want to do language course in your centre.
Sir if we have done an advanced course in Hebrew language is it possible to apply for the PhD programme.
No Indian University offers degree level courses including Ph.D. in Hebrew. Generally, one needs master degree along with knowledge equivalent to MA in the concerned language to apply for Ph.D. Admission is done through entrance test and experience in the same field is an added advantage.
Sir, I am a science student of class 12. Am I eligible for a bachelor’s degree in a foreign language?
Yes, you can appear for the entrance test next year.
Dear sir, I studied Japanese from 2004-2006 from the Mosai institute. I did clear jlpt 3 and 4. After that, I did my MBA and jobs. There was a gap of around 10 years, wherein I was in touch with my language on and of. I have been a language trainer to Japanese Expats in Hindi and English.
I have started my language again, and I am planning to appear for n3 but before that, I am self-studying n5 and n4 to brush up my language.
I wish to join jnu and now only focus on my language and be good at it and make my career in it. Please suggest whether I go for a BA course, diploma, or where should I start? What is your advice?
I’d suggest trying the combination of self-study and private institutes like MOSAI. Since you have already done an MBA, there is no need to repeat a 5-year UG + PG, or 2-year Diploma. Instead, revise thoroughly for the next few months, and then take the JLPT test to assess your level. Then as per your ability at that time, enroll in a private institute to continue from there to achieve N1 in the long run. N1 is accepted for a vast majority of jobs.
